The first time I played it I hated it tbh, and I actually put it down for a few years.

When phantom hourglass came out I tried that and found it was basically a sequel so I went back and played it again.

All of a sudden every problem I had with the game was endearing. This game is one that taught me sometimes you need to put down a game to enjoy it.

Me and everyone else here had this miniature Pokémon that came with our guaraná soda. I don't remember collecting anything else, but this I had more than 300 at some point.
My childhood has basically videogames, LEGO and those Pokémon miniatures.

Damn, kinda wish those were available here, when I was a kid.
It even has one with my favorite Pokémon!

Not that we would know as kids, and also everyone just collected Pokémon from those capsule machines as well, which had way more models, putting it all together on the same collection.
I still don't know if those you got from inserting coin on those machines were official ones or just bootlegs, but the quality on that time were on par with the soda ones.
From what I've seen, it was a partial "localization" from a Hasbro miniature collection for the USA, but unlike ours they had all the pokémon.

It was my first time playing a game like that, and I enjoyed it. Only piece of advice, the game is designed for your choices to have consequences, so go with that and don't try to control everything. Create a character and play as that character, and then repeat that for subsequent playthroughs to see how things change.

If you like RPGs you'll probably like it. The D&D 5e combat system is relatively easy to understand once you get how most actions succeed based on a 20-sided dice roll plus modifiers, and it doesn't have the modifier stacking design that 3.5/PF have so the number of modifiers stays relatively small.
