It definitely won't have the 70's-80's magic, but there's been a recent resurgence of old stuff going back to their roots. Like Beetlejuice and Alien, Bladerunner and such. As long as it's not like Robocop or Bill & Ted Face the Music. I'll give the Total Recall reboot with Colin Farrel a pass, but with The Goonies I'll try to be cautiously optimistic, since there's so many of the original people involved.
Given the habitual dumbfuckery of habitually strip mining of iconic films, into perpetual ruin by Midwit locusts in HollyWeird, odds are not good. The only possible redeeming value of remakes, reboots, and xquels at this point, lies in creating wildly offensive dumpster fires, such as to cause fans to pine for and buy the originals. That only lasts until those fans are dead.
They failed to learn the rule that one does not kill the golden goose.
