I didn't played DOS2 either. I'm ashamed already, my games' list is way beyond.

If you're not familiar with CRPGs I think BG3 is a better entry anyway. The combat and character building is way more straightforward than D:OS 2.

variety is the spice of life! plus just because i only need two doesnt mean i want to stick to only them! i want more different ways of saying the same thing plus seeing you all making all these gifs are a big ego boost

Bards get an ability to give an extra short rest, it's really unfortunate that they didn't add a bard companion. Sneak attack is only really fun if you can guarantee advantage like with risky ring, otherwise yeah it's annoying to set up. At this point I just run Asterion with two hand crossbows and the ranged power attack feat.

since my party is mainly melee and in these games it generally is best with focusing one target at a time. but eh lowered difficulty to easiest to make combat less inconvenient so i can just get through story. have considered grabbing bard but on lowest difficulty multi-classing is disabled and cant be bothered to raise it so i can double class since i will reach the end one way or the other. (also i killed him)

There's nothing I fear more than a bad adaption of something I like. I need to tap down my expectations, of course not everything can be Peter Jackson's LOTR and he took a long way to get there from Meet the Feebles and Dead Alive/Braindead and having something with a massive budget.

if you mean that in a way of very limited choices then yes. could be better for a newcomer i personally love pathfinder wrath for all the different choices and ways to build a char. also why i loved path of exile

Haven't played PoE so I can't comment on that. I wasn't thinking about class choice really comparing D:OS2 and BG3, but how much more interaction there is with environment and other abilities in D:OS 2. With BG3, most spells and effects don't interact with each other except that some low level spell effects can be set on fire or frozen. On the other hand, in D:OS 2 you could create an ice patch that gets partially melted by some fire, then electrified by an electric spell, then turned into holy water and so on, and then there might be a vapor cloud above it which has its own interactions with different abilities. And even martial abilities cause environment effects, like the Phoenix Leap putting fire around you (IIRC that's the name).

PF is hard to get into just because of how many rules there are that affect everything, and how many build options there are. I like it but a lot of people aren't that interested in why this bonus stacks with that bonus but not this other bonus.
