Yeah, Nintendo buying rare is one of the biggest "what if" of gaming in my head.
Battletoads, Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie and Conker, all great games.
Nowadays the founders of Rare have a mobile studio, some former employees created a company now being Crytek UK and others employees created Playtonic, but none released anything close to that golden era of theirs.

It blows my mind that Goldeneye is still one of the popular speedrun games. And that's even with most of the records being of the "This can't realistically be improved" variety.

But, several times a year it seems someone finds a way to eke out a few hundreds of a second here, discover a new glitch or exploit there or just grinds one of the "possible, but so difficult it's not doable in a real run" tactics into submission and sets a new record.

But, several times a year it seems someone finds a way to eke out a few hundreds of a second here, discover a new glitch or exploit there or just grinds one of the "possible, but so difficult it's not doable in a real run" tactics into submission and sets a new record.

Every new strat in those speedruns starts as non feasible, until some group of mad men starts training and implementing on actual runs. Hahaha
I like watching videos about glitches, exploits and speedrun on gaming.
A few weeks ago some guy finished Super Mario 64 without pressing the A button for the first time! It's a dumb thing? Yes. Is it cool? Also yes!
