I found very curious when I discovered that in Metal Gears Solid V, one scene which showed the insides of a person was censored in Japan (despite being where the game was made to begin with). In USA in order to receive an age rating, the sexual content is way more "important" to the violence stuff, where in Japan seems to be the inverse.
But yeah, lots of north american movies and games nowadays have some spicy scenes, and yet they appears to have a problem only when it's foreign works...
I don't think it still happens today, but I remember seeing Steam for example banning a lot of anime-styled games, despite being no adult scenes in them, clearly because they were in a sort of crusade against this type of works.

Japanese censorship law are pretty out date and have never been reviewed for last 100 years or so. It was designed to sensor genitals due to the western puranic society who expressed their shock against traditional Japanese art, which was very risky according to them. I don't remember seeing any gore censored. As for USA. I have no idea their rule and laws. It seems very conflicting and to be there to confuse rather than help. I don't i know about Japans international trade laws. I expect they sensor what is required by the international community rather than just what USA suggest. I guess you can google search to find out. I got no idea. yes, it still happens today. In some ways getting worse. USA is just nonsense rules but this is how it is.

Thats true. Maybe there are some elf or medieval style settlements. I believe UK had several back in 1970s, where they were just experiment to know what it was like. I am certainly a modern person living. showers, warm heating in winter, electric and other modern things. According to it, whales, despite being lesst than 5% of the player base, are the ones who actually makes almost 50% of the revenue.
So I think it's easier for the companies to focus on these ones, which usually has similar tastes and opinions, than to focus on the rest, that they won't possibly please them all.
