Can you please provide us the source of that affirmation? What's the active strategy for a company for not be popular outside their own country? Are you telling me that, for example, French music is not popular outside France, because their music companies boycott their own business outside their country?yet japanese companies tried their hardest for those outside Japan to not consume it

haven't seen it, but heard it was trash, so not worth losing sleep over.I didn't even know that there had been a Buzz Lightyear movie. Well guess I'll have to try and not lose sleep over my ignorance.

I have an acquaintance that lived and worked in Japan for a year. He found that everyone was very polite to him until it was clear he was a resident rather than a tourist, so for example if he encountered Japanese residents in his apartment complex they tended to be more rude because he was a foreigner and obviously not a tourist. That said plenty of people were also just as polite to him even when they knew he lived there so it's not a universal thing.I don't know what's your relation with these Japanese, how much you have interacted with them and how much are you able to understand what their are talking about or the context of these "gaijin", but I'm from a touristic city crowded of Japanese people and, at least crossing them in the street, I have not noticed any behavior as you describe. Regarding that small business I also have a friend that has a friend that...
I can't speak as to whether they refuse to acknowledge foreigners as citizens, but I do know that Japan does not recognise dual-nationality, ie you cannot be both an American citizen and a Japanese citizen. If you wanted to naturalise as a Japanese citizen you would have to give up your previous citizenship status along with whatever benefits it brings. Japan is certainly not alone in this but obviously it can seem strange if you come from countries that do recognise dual-nationality.I see a lot of news that Japan's birth rate keeps declining, the majority of the population is elderly and they need outsiders to work in the industries, and yet they refuse to aknowledge the foreigners as citizens or something like that. Japan seems very "proud" of their country or whatever, sometimes they don't even like exporting their culture. Look ate K-Pop vs J-Pop for example, J-Pop is a lot older, and yet japanese companies tried their hardest for those outside Japan to not consume it, while korean companies took advantage of it, and now it's a global success (Even though I hate it, I have to admit it).

Look at cultures where everything is passed down through oral tradition. You have a younger generation that doesn't want to or can't be bothered to learn from their Elders. You have centuries and generations of knowledge, customs, traditions that will be lost forever. This applies to Asia, the Middle East, Africa, South America, and Europe. Imagine being able to trace your ancestry back that far- only to have it be forgotten. That's truly sad.Yes but look at whats happened just with games over the years. There are games that were made that have just disappeared due to changing tech standards and the lack of backwards compatibility. Just because something is readable and usable now doesn't mean it always will be, which is what I'm getting at. Yes the internet is great for distributing to multiple places but all those places rely on electricity. Imagine if you will a scenario where some of those servers lose power or are destroyed. What's there is gone forever. We know that HDD's and SSD's can degrade and lose effectiveness over time or through use and then what is on them could be lost, same as the talk here about CD's, DVD's, VHS and cellulose film degrading over time. Just because things could be stored in multiple redundant locations doesn't necessarily mean they will be. It would be extremely expensive to have all that duplication when you could use the space more efficiently by storing only one copy in one place. That's how these companies think. Not about preservation but about the bottom line.
And yes there is more information available now from a few hundred years ago because of the printing press but can you tell me what has not survived. What was destroyed during the colonial expansions from Europe inn the 15th to 18th centuries. What got lost during the French Revolution and the subsequent Napoleonic Wars. What got burnt during the rise of facism in Europe in the 20th Century.
The point I'm making is that all we know is what survived. We'll never know what we've lost, and that will remain true as we go into the future. It's already happening.
That is also very true. As someone pointed out earlier so much of that can be attributed to natural disasters and war mainly. It took us almost two thousand years to re-discover how to make roman concrete, so who knows what knowledge has been lost over the years. Not just from the big events but also the trades that have died out from modernization but could have had wider applications.

They still don't care, companies during pride month(the west Vs middle east)
Even the "woke" Sweet Baby Inc or Black Rock using basically threads and extortion to get what they want, zero morale.
Not to mention they could be stoned to death. Isn't it still a crime with zero tolerance? To be fair, some middle eastern countries might actually like raid their offices and disrupt business over a logo change like that.![]()
I thought I was the only one who did that. I notice misspelled words, the wrong tenses, punctuation, and even an Oxford comma will bug the crap out of me. I guess that adds to the time it takes to get through this.Responses
Also, I read through usually at least a few pages, in the past and the present, then type up a response Formatting, spacing, typing, spell checking, Then I go back and edit when I notice mistakes
Wow. More silver linings...On the bright side, jewel cases are more expensive and flimsier than ever.![]()
I think you might be right. Did you try all the other weird Big Cup "flavours" they came out with- the ones with the Reese's pieces, potato chips, Reese's Puffs, and Caramel- just to name a few?I think the chocolate to PB ratio is better on the pumpkins. My coworker has a relative that works at Family Dollar and is going to try to buy a case this year.
Yup, that's Lord Vader. He doesn't look as big in the Darth Vader costume though. Does he?OK, I have seen that one before (a long time ago)
I didn't realize that was Vader. Talk about acting range. Effortlessly playing an old lady like that.
I've always heard you couldn't Bork the willing...One doesn't forget their first forced Bork

I'm aware of that image of them and the experiences of many people regarding that issue. Same kind of experiences will report an African or Asian immigrant who comes to live in Europe. I think the major difference is, for once, the ones that are the target of such prejudices are the white "privileged" people. Are they more xenophobic than the Europeans? I will not dare to do such affirmation. He found that everyone was very polite to him until it was clear he was a resident rather than a tourist, so for example if he encountered Japanese residents in his apartment complex they tended to be more rude because he was a foreigner and obviously not a tourist.
