Why do most of the unsung women of history have the name "Mary"? Conspiracy? The Church?

I'm pretty sure with the exception of Muhammad, Mary is the most popular name... ever. Of all time. (I will not be fact checking this). Probably the reason it comes up so much in "unsung women" is just because it's so damn common in general.
