I'll make sure I throw you a mergeable double post every now and then, since I heard it's one of your kinks. No reason being a mod has to be all work no pleasure
Oh? this one time I did it unintentionally, genuinely did not notice. Good luck with your quest!

I had to ask the true definition of morality

so, if someone feels guilty, fearful, or disgusted by something, isn't that tied to their morals? they're not directly involved in something, but still feel the impulse to act against it. I don't know a better word to describe that, I use 'morality' all the time
In my opinion the issue is that there's a conflux of things, some of which are based on morality and some aren't. Morally, everyone has some sense of what they think is right and wrong, and some sense of when they should stop someone else from doing something they think is wrong (in some way, not necessarily physically preventing them but taking action against them). However, there is a third part of this which isn't really about morality but about personal satisfaction, effectively some people really get off on imposing some amount of power over other people. To the people who go out of their way to report the site, they are getting satisfaction out of preventing someone else from doing something they think is immoral. There's obviously degrees of all of this, you'd probably get some satisfaction if a robber you reported to the police was caught too, but the kinds of people the Internet now calls Karens get a lot of satisfaction just by imposing power on other people, even if there's no real gain to them.

Also this CS Lewis quote is relevant as usual:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I don't know that it is tied to their morals (in my opinion at least).
Morality is supposed to be the difference between things that are 'correct vs wrong' or 'bad vs good'
How things make us feel shouldn't dictate those things.

Not only that, but VHS degrades literally doing nothing- so one day you could try and watch one and... Nope.
I still have a decent collection of VHS because there are some movies that have yet to receive DVD treatment (let alone Bluray) quite a few more that you can't even find torrents for either.
You could try that dual deck VHS/DVD-R thing but I've heard good and bad stuff about that process.
Yes, Back in the day I actually had an all in one device (don't remember the brand) that had a hard drive, a dvd burner, and a VHS player + it could receive cable TV signals (before digital) I used it at the time to burn some VHS to DVD.

Also this CS Lewis quote is relevant as usual:

The number of people just itching to get a chance at levying power over others is frightening. Half a million East Germans were willing Stasi reporters, reporting on friends, children, spouses, parents etc..
A fresh example closer to home were the Covid experience, where the lockdown violation hotlines were busy with people ratting out their neighbors, people being ejected from planes when they couldn't get their baby or toddler to keep a mask on and on and on.

I think about that C.S Lewis quote a lot these days.
