More than one thing annoyed me in Hobbit, but since it were more than a decade ago, I don't remember. But one thing I do remember is that he kept spoiling his own story, like "the dwarf said goodbye to the bird saying they wouldn't met again, but he were wrong as the bird later saved him from a fall from the mountain" or whatever.
But I've heard many people say that Hobbit is written very differently from LotR, so that's why I'm not opposed to at least trying it.

As I understand it the story, or legend if you prefer, behind the difference in style between the Hobbit and LotR is sort of summed up like this;

The Hobbit, Tolkien wrote as a story for his son to enjoy. The Lord of the Rings he wrote for himself.

That fans will become more demanding from now on. And they won't be able to deliver (shitty) games like they've always done in recent years

Like I said above, it weren't because of that that I didn't like it, and I think the writing style is different between works.
I like to know descriptions of the characters and places, but I've heard that in Les Misérables there are multiple pages descripting a single column of the cathedral. I think I wouldn't like that level of descriptiveness. Hahaha

I don't think I'd worry too much about the level of description in Les Miserables. I've found it to be impossible so far to find an unabridged, complete version. I think the abridged version is cut down to focus on the areas that are most well known because of the musical along with appropriate text to maintain a cogent cohesive story, though I cannot be certain that is true as I have never seen an unabridged copy.

Who is to say that they won't do that? They've remade so many animated movies in live action, they probably will eventually.
I don't know how old you are, but when Princess and the Frog came out, there was 'controversy' about having a black Disney princess and also how she wasn't black enough.

You should look up the original story synopsis if you haven't before. She gets rejected by the prince and he marries a princess from another country. She then has a choice to kill him to regrow her tail, but refuses because she loves him and jumps in the sea, leading to her death.
