Started playing Warsim: The Realm of Aslona, there is definitely some funny writing.

Once I download the extended trilogy and was ready to watch it, but them I got lazy, and never went back to it...
I do want to watch it someday, or since I never watched it, you think it would be nice to read it with that "first time" mind? Without knowing anything? I have a Kindle, so I could put it to a good use.

It really is up to you. I enjoyed reading them first, but if you didn't enjoy Tolkien's writing style, i would go for the movies first.
Also, i would reccoment to start with the normal editions, not the extended ones. The extended ones are long, and while they have a lot of cool new scenes, they are also long as fuck, and can be quite tiring if you aren't already a fan.

Its with minimal visual novel stuff. Usually you just grind every quest to unlock every girl and varying scenes. The scenes are rendered in game i think, not a gif.

But all in all its kind of ok. The amount of characters available is nice but they all share the same body type for every scene (makes it easier for the dev to copy paste i guess instead of making proper new body types for each character)
