Holy shit. This triggered an old memory:
I was watching either Evil Dead 2 or Army of Darkness with a friend. I forget which.

At one point he paused the VCR and said "Now I get why Hollywood does it."

"Get what?" I replied.

"The facial wounds." he said "They're consistent throughout the movie. It's attention to detail. I should love that... but I don't. Seeing the cuts on his face for the whole movie irritates me and I don't know why. It makes no sense, I know, but if the wounds were gone by the next scene, I'd enjoy the movie more."

The point? Maybe people like him are the reason why Hollywood does what it does when it comes to movies. Random thought... I know.

eventually the less money those movies make the less companies are gonna want to make them. it's a self solving problem, like cat ladies who vote for war as an example.

you can argue however that "the message" is more important to them. but if you look around, people are getting sick and tired but that crap. even young children don't wanna see those movies and older pople find them stupid. hero movies overall are tiresome at this point. if they aren't good at least, it's even worse.

I hate lootboxes. But the reality is, they wouldn't exist if they didn't make money. Which means "enough" people like them to keep lootboxes as viable profit method.

If... and do mean IF... we're wrong and people actually love that kinda stuff (lootboxes, current movies, etc...), it's gonna stay.

Now the complicated fact is, is attendance down in theatres because:
-of the quality?
-of the message?
-or more people just "discovered" that streaming movies "aren't that much worse an experience, is cheaper, and more convenient"? (i.e. COVID taught them that)

Let me be clear, I'm hoping dickness all around is right... but I'm afraid what entertainment will look like in a generation if dickness all around is wrong...

Asus has gotten to be terrible quality, I've started to avoid their products if I can. I wish evga hadn't left the video card business. Msi has filled the void nicely for me though.

EVGA was getting ripped off and blamed for bad Nvidia chips. I was hoping they'd cross over to AMD, but it looks like AMD would do the same thing.
EVGFA was always quality, I have an old EVGA motherboard that's been running 24/7 since 2011 with zero problems. The graphics card, too. Levery other major part has failed and had to be replaced. The power supply, RAM, multiple hard rives, multiple DVD/Blu Ray drives, hell even the Fans have all been replaced. I wish I had a way to figure out total hours of actual run time on this poor motherboard. It's been solid as a rock.

And we all now some people are blind too, and don't read signatures...

Lootboxes though broadly work off of exploiting people's addiction. People hate their addiction, but are still compelled to do it. They aren't even necessarily enjoying the activity, the thrill is largely gone, they are fulfilling a compulsion.

Wow. THAT was it? The other 89 minutes and 55 seconds must have been compelling cinema...
It couldn't be any worse than "Showgirls", although the director's commentary where him and another guy get fuckin' hammered as they watch it makes it an even better movie.

If it is family katana, just like all antique of national history importance, you are not likely to go prison because you own it, but they will refuse you to remove from country and can get court fine if you try, but this is same about all countries and the rules about certain thing of national importance/history

Well yes the first saw had holes in it. It was a low budget film that they expanded from a short film they made to pitch to make the full length film. But it was so popular that they got a bigger budget each time and that's why it started getting worse each time. Because they kept trying to overdue it. Just like the paranormal activity films.

Hellraiser Clive was involved in the first 3 films. But the 3rd hell on earth definitely took a down hill slide.

They say a lot of horror films are based off of true events. Which they are. Not necessarily exact events. But they took inspiration from something. A lot are inspired by serial killers. Take the strangers for example it says it's based off of a true story. But that true story isn't 3 people going to a random house and torturing and killing a couple. But based off of the Manson family and as a kid the director had some random person show up one night at their house. Who ever didn't answer the door in that area the house got broken into and robbed. So those real life events inspired the strangers.

Some of the movies were everyone dies at the end are the best. I'm not watching a horror film to have it have a happy ending.

Yes don't fuck in the woods is the actual name they even made a sequel. Yeah blood and honey was made exactly for that reason. They even made a sequel. Plus they are doing a whole franchise out of it called the twisted childhood universe. Yes they are doing a Pinocchio film. The next one is going to be a Peter Pan. But they are also doing a Bambi, sleeping beauty, snow white and a Nemo (Assuming that's Captain Nemo)

Yeah, the more money they threw at it- the "better" it got... You get the feeling the people that make/write the sequels don't bother to watch the films that preceded them? You watch some of them and you're like "Wait, that wouldn't make sense because 'X' reason"...

Maybe I was trying to distance him for his own sake. I thought there was something goofy about the rights/licensing- Clive signed over or sold his Lion's Share of the IP for creative control and then the third was completely re-written against his wishes or something, but he was still contractually obligated to direct it or co-direct. Whatever it was he wasn't happy which was why he disassociated himself from any and all sequels (and after seeing them, it was a good move). IT really should've been directed by "Alan Smithee"

"Paranormal Activity"? Ugh. HOW can you make the EXACT same movie 5 or 6 times. They could've just spliced footage from the first movie into the sequels and idiots would still watch it.

"Based on True Events" or "Inspired by True Events" means that, IF you're lucky the movie has (maybe) 10% of a ring of truth to it- the rest is "creative liberty" and "fluff". Hmm, don't think I saw "The Strangers", the trailer must not have grabbed me. Considering, nowadays, the best parts of most film are IN the trailers- you have a pretty good idea if the movie will suck or not.

Yeah, the object of a Horror film isn't for it to have a "happy ending". (Unless it's the "Evil Dead", Ash MUST survive.)

Shouldn't every Horror movie in the 80's have been called "Don't Fuck in the Woods". It was probably one of the most overused tropes in cinema. From "Friday the 13th" (add a Roman Numeral) to "Sleepaway Camp"- they were all about teenagers bangin' in the woods and getting horribly murdered- although, to be fair (to be fair), there was a lot of good ol' fashion nudity back then...didn't matter if it server the plot...there was just a whole lotta nekkid goin' on. Wasn't that a Jerry Lee Lewis song?
What is the sequel called, "You Shouldn't Have Fucked in the Woods: The Fuck Around and Find Out" Edition?

Just a quick tangent, as you seem to know your Horror. Do you remember "The Funhouse". Tobe Hooper directed, so-so plot, decent special (practical effects). NOW I know for a fact (unless it's the "Mandela Effect") that when the older sister was in the shower and her brother pulls back the curtain to stab her- it shows her lil booblies, travels down her tummy, (stay with me), shows her bush, goes back up to her tummy, AND when he finally stabs her the knife bends...proving it was fake- then he laughs and runs out of the bathroom. Right? I'm not crazy.
Because when you watch it now- it only goes from the booblies to the tummy and he stabs her. I know there was bush in that movie. Even back when regular TV would show nudity- I watched that movie each and every time it aired.

Wow, they are just going to beat the Fairy Tale concept to death, are they not? Although if it were Nemo from "Finding Nemo" that would be... a terrible movie still.
A "Bambi" Horror movie, just why? The others are kinda uninteresting sounding, tbth. Although "Peter Pan" reminds of a cartoon I saw in "Hustler" years ago. It showed Peter Pan sprinkle Faerie dust on the children and then convince them to leap of the window- each one of them did and plummeted to their deaths and he flew away laughing. Hustler had the best cartoons...

I'm sure everyone here is already aware of this but this was something that used to be a punishment in the UK. Certainly around the 50's but I'm not sure when it finished. It was an option for those who fell afoul of the anti-homosexuality laws there at the time. Alan Turing was given it as an option instead of going to prison as is touched on towards the end of the movie The Imitation Game.
