What do you guys think about "parody" games?

I used to like em before but now its kinda meh. Could change my mind if I manage to find or play a good one tho

Mmm not much of a fan of them, I actually really liked one of them (Black Rabbit Trainer something, now abandoned) and I actually didn't know characters were from somewhere else XD

Mostly fine with them but my tastes is overwhelmingly for "original" content. References are alright of course.

I can't remember any decent one. Could you give some examples?
Some of the ones I've played are: Goons Raid Her, The Lewdest House, Four Elements Trainer, Black Souls 1 & 2, Princess Trainer, The Imperial Gatekeeper.

Stories are dog shit but I love seeing a character from a show/game/movie I watch/play in a porn game scenario. I prefer for them to be in their world and setting tho,

A lot of them seem pretty bad. I guess going for a parody is often a sign of the dev not having any ideas, which then results in a rather bland game. That doesn't mean it can't be really good to take something popular and spice it up though. It's all in the execution.

They can range from completely what the hell is this to actually being a good game.

A few Rick and Morty games and that Dune parody are enjoyable to play.

You're basically just creating something for people who like a certain group of characters, which effectively limits your audience. That's why the only halfway decent ones are for uber popular setting (Naruto, Avatar TLA and such).

Depends, if the entire parody is just "deconstruction of genre" or poorly masked criticism of things author dont like (mostly political opinions), without any additives, its shit. But if a game can stand on its own without the parody part, its good by default. And since most porn games stand on their own thanks to porn, as long as porn is good, attemts at parody are mostly tollerable.

They're inherently risky. Anyone who's not familiar or simply doesn't care too much about the source material probably won't play it. For those who may be interested, setting the mc, tone, plot and so on to everyone's taste is probably impossible.

That being said, they can be as godd as any other kind of game.

Oh, you were talking about series parody. I thought more about genre of comedy, like joking about tropes.
Yeah, don't know all these games, but some are really enjoyable like "Four Elements Trainer".

Fully enjoying parody usually requires a decent familiarity with the source material, and I'm the wrong demographic for most of these

I will happily play a parody of something I don't know, as long as it's done well. The issue really seems to be in the writers who ride on the coat tails of the work they parody, hoping that all their shortcomings are overshadowed by the player's love for the original. Basically, they use it as a crutch and that gets exposed really badly the moment someone outside of the fandom takes a look at it.

It depends on if they keep the original personality of the characters. Otherwise it's just random characters in cosplay

Vast majority are cringe. The one that made me laugh was that german one that I was told about and did not play at all.
