Does Anyone Else Drop a Game When Old Saves Don't Work?

Of course when it asks those questions, if it's well into the game, there's a good chance you'll forget. I've seen ones that did total bullshit - make a part 2 that completely ignored the player's previous choices.
Yeah, I forgotten some of those... "Did you fuck Emily while her sister was watching? Y/N" Who the hell is Emily ;-p Especially after 9 months of releases. I too dislike when the developer makes choices that actually don't mean anything. At least be honest and don't offer the choice in the first place.

NEVER!, replay the whole thing again is a plus for me... Games are too short to play from a previous save... =(

Even ones with hours worth of play time, including what is usually very boring (the early parts with no sex?)

Space Journey X is a pretty bad offender to the point that the dev added so many skips to get back to where you were to compensate. It's a shame too, because the game has a number of things going for it. When I first ran into it, I dropped the game for a substantial amount of time.

Not really a need for it, just press ctrl and make the same choices as before

Unfortunately I have played so many games that the plot lines all get woven together that even if my old save works I am still wondering wtf is going on.

Depends, if its a game where I was playing a lot in the last days then I will just let it rest some time before playing again.

If its a VN I just skip all text until I reach where I actually was

if the game is not finished, what do you expect?

The dev to have their shit straight before they start? Ever hear of the 7 P's? Prior Planning and Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance. If they're any good, they have most of it planned ahead of time and don't add anything that breaks old saves halfway through.

I just use the skip button liberally which is why I am partial to Ren'py games.

depends on the game and depends on the update, i normally start from 0, anyway most porn games arent that long

Haven't yet, but I've bitched about the Dev changing the damned RenPy engine mid-game. I might consider it if I don't think the VN is strong enough for me to continue it.

That doesn't always work with broken saves, unless you skip "unseen text" as well. When a save gets borked, it can often bork the persistent, too, and treat all text as "unseen". This may not matter to you, but if I'm charting new paths, I want to see what I missed the first time.

I dont usually drop a game for that. Sometimes someone will drop a working save file at the new update content, or I usually just use an auto clicker.

Nope, already invested, might as well try to finish it but i'll wait for a few more updates so i can binge all episodes.

If my save is ruined between a like .3 to .31 update, yeah im dropping it, I cant trust the saves for the future.

Thats one thing that pissed me off about odessy of Ginna and the 3 to 4.5 (Venture forth) update, had to start all over, I just used MTool to skip all that stuff I did already.

If the branching or point system is a mess, I might. But usually it just takes a moment to skip through everything and get to where I was.
