alot of people talk about how they like monstergirls but most talk about regular girls with ears and a tail stapled on instead of a girl with a non humanoid body ,do catgirls really count as a monstergirls?

I think they can and do in a lot of cases. The appearance is important, but their mannerisms also matter.

But it's also a perception thing. So to a furry or someone who is only attracted to girls with primarily non-monster characteristics, then probably not.

Though the image only goes skindeep, I think it shows that perspective fairly well.

That said, to people who are attracted to more primarily humanoid/human characteristics, then in many cases the catgirl/neko DOES count as a monstergirl or furry.

I don't consider myself a furry but I stop at the fourth from the left in most cases on this chart.

Buuuut I've also gotten off to porn of Merle from Escaflowne/Visions of Escaflowne.

So it's really quite subjective, but there aren't any other similar instances in my life save for the twins from Thundercats, and even then that very much depends on how they're drawn.

I agree with you. I'd probably also stop at the fourth from the left except for some cases where the more right ones have been hot. I find Neko's super hot though.

Generally no but it depends on execution, since generic catgirls look extremely similar to normal people they would have to behave quite a bit differently or have a very abnormal backstory when compared to normal people to be considered part of the monster girl archetype as otherwise there would be no real difference between them and a human girl wearing a simple costume which is obviously not what anybody would consider as a MONSTER

Catgirls are preferred. If no choice other than a monster girl, I'd prefer something more...humanoid looking.

I would say they don't. I would say catgirls are just humanoid animals.

Neither for me. I don't like monstergirl. One I filter out.

I've never gotten the appeal of a simple catgirl, not that I dislike them but just having cat ears and a tail on a very human girl doesn't change much for me

For me it's realistic or GTFO.

Furry

Monstergirls aren't bad at all, up to a point. As far as cat girls go, Neko is where I stop at. Vampires, wolves in human form, all good to me. I don't even mind said wolves showing ears and a tail when they need to (defense situations, etc). Even if you aren't into furries, girls like that deserve headpats.

Well, if vampires are considered monster girls I don't see how much the appearance really is the point to take into account.

But it really does depend in how it is handled. I would say that if the story is able to convey some sort of byological diference apart of the tail and ears it pass. (Not sure if monster would be acurate but that certainly makes them not human)

Dog girls! Keep your stinky cat girls, a good boi would never betray us. In all seriousness, genuine monsters are hard to find, but are where it's at. So what if I'm allergic to bee girls? Imma' get that honey.

From those two options I'd have to choose catgirls, I played Monster Girl Quest and while a lot of them are pretty great, a majority of them are not my type at all.
I guess I'm fine with the more common ones like lamias, harpys, slimegirls, foxgirls, etc...
