Visual Novels, because sandbox games are usually not designed in a good way to make you want to finish it

Of course VN because sandbox adult games are always have repetitive and same boring renders.

I don't mind sandbox with a good hint system
I don't mind it, but would still rather be playing a VN. If you think of it in terms of "content per second", sandbox's have a hell of a lot of downtime where you're just looking at empty rooms / maps etc

feel like sandbox games run into the issue of lack of direction or cohesive flow, but with a VN you dont run into that issue cause its just a single line

I prefer a good made sandbox over a VN. But an animated VN is nice too

VN for sure. Sandbox CAN be good, if it's really open world, but not when you have to guess a specific place to go to move on.

I usually prefer visual novel, but a sandbox game with character creation can be great.

Sandbox, so long as it doesn't lock you out of a path too easily.

I prefer Visual Novels just because some sandbox games wont let you progress the story if you miss clicking one tiny little thing

To be fair, some VN ones lock you out of anything with certain characters (or at all) if you miss 1 little thing. I mean games, not kinetic novels. I hate kinetic novels. If I wanted something where you didn't make choices, I'd watch porn.

i feel like a sandbox can be good, especially with properly paced out content. a lot feel like they rush immediately and ruin any sense of flow. like most people though, i prefer vn

Visual novel without a doubt, one click and you advance without problem

Sandbox can be really good. It can make you feel more immersed.
But a lot of games make it too darn hard. It have to be well balanced.

I agree that is frustrating and I prefer it if Visual Novels let you unlock their galleries so I can see any good bits I've missed

I vastly prefer Visual Novels in comparison to Sandbox games.
