To reassure you, the story is not just depressing. It has a lot of funny and sensitive parts but also a few more serious ones from time to time too. Just like real life. And yes, everyone has their own expectations when it comes to a story.
But I just wanted to briefly underline what Lirius had already written. It's better not to change the names of the protagonists unless you know what you're doing. Otherwise the game will definitely crash. Despite extensive research, it was unfortunately not possible for me to add a “name change”. Not under the circumstances of how the names are designed and required for the sideimages.

The tags that are not yet implemented will be in the process of the story.

There are no more, there are others to be seen but they only play a supporting role as well as Sandra's mother. The story is only about Tom and Sandra.

but they've known each other for years BEFORE the point the game starts, so it's not like Tom just met her. we just got to miss all the lead up

many times I have the feeling that the AUTO function is activated and it jump too fast between consecutive images... better advance through them manual by individual click
I know it give a feel of fluence but each scene have a terrible low amount of images and it give the feeling it end up too fast
at least have enough time to look ... you cant stop on those images no matter what
