Anyone else actually a fan of the grinding games?

Challenges are good, to provide a sense of reward, but mindless grinding not so much
 
Light grinding is fine. 2/3 steps to get something i don't mind.
 
Nope. Dropped a reasonably well rendered VN because I got tired of doing the same tasks over and over again just to get a few points towards the next version of a scene: "oh, after only three repeats of this, she takes her towel off and I see her tits, but I had to miss progressing anywhere else because of the time of day I had to do it".

The absolute LAST thing I want in an adult game is a challenge.
 
i understand that perspective, but i do think having to earn something makes it more rewarding.
Nope it's a pain in the ass and gets dropped, then gets a bad rating.
 
If the content is renewed there is no problem, but when they force you to repeat the same action without anything changing, well, bad game design.
 
ive thought about this because ive thought of making a game myself. how do I make something fun? that's a pretty hard question to answer, so it helps to think of how do you do the opposite, and then avoid it. how do you make something boring? i can very quickly think of 3 ways: make something 1) mindless, 2) repetitive and 3) that takes too long.

then it's just a matter of not being any of them. surprise surprise, most of the time these things are all 3 of them
 
If it takes to long I loose interest in the game or I'll try to cheat the points system (which is often very easy with renpy games).
If there are minor rewards before you get to the main goal I mostly don't mind.
 
Not a fan at all of grinding in games, I think if there HAS to be any 'challenge' in a porn game, it should be something simple like pressing the right sequence of dialogue boxes in a conversation. You can fuck it up, and easily reload/rewind to get the good option. Games where you have to grind a tedious minigame for weeks on end are not it.

I don't really enjoy the grind itself, and lately I've been more inclined to just unlock the gallery itself, but every so often a game will come along which will make the grind actually feel rewarding. I guess it's more about the design of the grinding than anything.

Yeah... make it a small puzzle that IS solvable, or a small grind (2/3 times a certain action at most), or a certain chain of choices (but also provide something for the "wrong" choices)...
 
I play them often and i accept it, what i don't like is if they exaggerate the mechanics in question. 2 scenes in 1 hour is quite slow or if it depends on luck
 
Grinding to certain extent is fine, but what absolutely sucks is the combination of grinding + random events required for grinding

i think that may be because psychologically, the anticipation of receiving something is often almost as pleasing as actually receiving it, and can prolong the pleasure of getting the reward. if you just get the reward instantly it's a very instant pleasing feeling which also just as quickly fades away.

if you're working for it, even before you actually get the reward, the fact you are progressing towards it is pleasing so you'll end up liking it more in hindsight

but what do i know
 
Depends on the grind to be honest, some games take the mickey with it, and the worst is grindy games and the story line isn't that great either. (Or the girls look like something out of a horror movie)
