I remember when the govt in Australia tried to ban access to sites like The Pirate Bay, didn`t work Australians will just find a way around whatever verification rule that gets brought in. The politicians really have no idea about the internet and think this will be a vote winner. Interesting fact for all you non Aussies, X rated material is legal in Canberra and the Northern Territory. Both are Federal territories. One rule for the Federal politicians, different set of rules for the States.

Hello, convicted sex-offender and formerly registered sex offender here(this is your only content warning), I can give lots of clarity about the Federal Prison system in the USA. Here are a few pointers:
-If you are in for a sex offense, you will be sent to a prison that houses a majority of sex offenders, like FCI Petersburg, VA.
-While I was doing time for smoking weed during probation(90 days) I was placed in MCC Chicago where the Unit Case Manager told all the inmates point-blank, "over 80% of this whole building's population consists of sex offenders" and suggested we invest in companies that build halfway houses since Sex Offense Crimes had risen over 2,000% since the passage of the Adam Walsh Act
-If you show your paperwork that you got sent to prison for making a videogame, you will be left alone. No one in prison gives a shit about pixels on a screen.
-Sex offenders have the right to sue prison officials if it is found that their paperwork had been distributed to other inmates
-The vast majority of sex offenders are in for downloading ** off the internet
-There are, in general, 5 categories of Prisons in the US(Camp/Minimum security, Low, Medium, Penitentiary and Supermax. Sex offenders rarely get sent to Penitentiaries or Supermax prisons
-Most people in prison are as dangerous/docile as regular civilians, you have a very good chance of beating any attackers in a 1-on-1 fight
-The vast majority of people you encounter after prison will not care about your crime if it simply involves downloading photos/videos, I even got married after the fact

tl;dr Don't believe what you see in movies

In Australia things are a bit different, sex offenders regularly are bashed by other inmates, and they have a habit of falling down the stairs whilst their hands are cuffed behind their back. If they dont end up with a broken leg, they get dragged back up the stairs and then pushed down again until one or both legs are busted. They have their own yard, called the protection unit or dogs yard that they share with police informers and ex cops

There was quite a bit in the news about people being forcibly detained and taken to quarantine camps a few years ago. Just a quick search pulled up the story about Hayley Hodgson who was taken to the Howard Springs mandatory covid-19 quarantine facility outside Darwin. I don't remember the names of the others, but there were several stories about people having authorities showing up at their door and forcing them into a quarantine camp, even if they were already quarantined safely at home.
