I always turn the sound down to zero in VN games. Just wondering if anyone keeps it on, and games that have decent sound.

I do keep low volume to have some sound, so I'm not sitting in silent room.

Background music is pretty common now, although it's mostly some random free use music that isn't tide to current scene in the game. Better games do have music tailored to scenes and better music in general. Sound effects are still somewhat rare. At least in extensive use.

Aside from the really well-done games, the sfx and music usually get repetitive and annoying. Usually don't bother.

most of the time clicking "mute all" takes about as much effort as was put into the sounds you're muting

Definitely off. i like to listen to some music while playing any type of game. (sound is on for games that arent visual novels)

Music is generally off, and sounds are on very low. Still, they are few exceptions where music/sounds are great. (eg. Leap of Faith; music was alright, imho)
