I have been looking to create an animated series that is 3d. I have the genre, story and characters thought out but I have no idea where to start in terms of software to use. Im shit at drawing and can't visualise new creations

Is render engine you looking for?
If so, then I recommend Honey Select 2, the example like Eternum, My bully is my lover,
probably better get started for a beginner
but the best engine I might vote Virt-A-Mate(VAM), the model looks pretty hot I think

Source Film Maker is probably the single best animation tool for 3D animation that you can get completely for free.

Try blender, it has lots of tutorial, assets, and can do lot of thing including sculpting your own figures and items. A guy made a 3D Scooby Doo movie in the style of rankin bass with only a laptop.

I'll look into this one

Can it be used with other editors like Source Film Maker suggested before?
