Do Animations improve a game?

From my point of view, all animations are a plus in a game; I find it tedious to have to click to advance scenes frame by frame.

great pictures can still be amazing, but it needs a hell of a lot of heavy lifting of the posing, the clothing, of the sexyness and suggestion that the picture transmits

an simple animation can bring a simple pose to life, literally, a great pose can be even better with movement as well

but animations are also more prone to make things look weird and unnatural, weird limbs movement, a movement loop that makes no sense. The longer the animation goes, the worst it gets, because the animator need to control too many details and if you don't know what you are doing you are probably going to fuck it up.

When it's good yeah.

I think Animations are always great. Even if it's amateur animation as long as the visuals of the stills are good its still enjoyable. When it comes down to it the story and flow have to be good. Animations wont save a terrible story or writing.

In general, animations are better than no animations, but honestly, a lot of the time I don't find them that interesting and just skip them.
They're nice to have, but definitely not essential.

There are a few unoptimised games that I have played (can’t remember specifics) that felt laggy in the animations even on fairly good hardware. So I’d say as long as they load properly I’m into animations

I mean yeah 100%, no matter how good a still picture / frame is, it will always be better if its well animated

It enhances the experience but don't necessarily improve it, with AI now every almost every DAZ game have animation but most of em are dodo ahh game

It depends, but in a lot of cases it just slows things down or causes unnecessary issues with the game crashing. Sometimes they are lovely, mostly I can do without.

it depends of the quality of the animation, but yeah, i would say they improve the game

At times, animation truly imbues a scene with a tangible emotional quality, as the way characters move reflects the beauty and depth of the moment. However, not all games achieve this masterfully; such excellence is frequently found in titles that employ a 2D art style. Although 3D animation is relatively easier—since it involves animating a pre-existing model rather than redrawing the character for every frame—it remains a challenging task that demands a high level of skill and precision.

I think I'd prefer a detailed still image to a mediocre animation, but when an animator can do both? Like with the original Insexual Awakening, Daily lives of my countryside or Wet summer days? Those are legendary to me.

generally yes, but bad animation or slideshows of two or three alternating pictures can make it way worse

Animations definitely improve things, but I don't think they're strictly mandatory. A lot of japanese vns don't have any animations at all, and yet they are still so damn good just through the writing alone.
