Why not? This is just wasting time and effort that would be more appreciated by giving us something new. The character designs are similar enough and the names are the same that all he'd have to do is give a short recap and encourage newbies to check out Our Island first. Every time a dev does a remake of old content, it drives their fans crazy! This is basically doing the same thing. I enjoyed Our Island, but not enough to wait forever for it to happen again unless this dev will actually have something happen that's more interesting than before.

My guess is it is much harder to figure out someone else's code and where things like choice variables are if they didn't at least leave their notes in on what lines do (assuming there ever were any). Dunno how many lines that is to untangle but given the length by the time it was abandoned it's probably in the 10's of thousands. That along with the fact he's not even using the same models -13- did it was just a sane decision from a dev pov rather than deal with that frustration. If I were doing it I'd rather start fresh rather than figure out someone's else's ball of twine as well.
I do hope the dev stays motivated in the long term as this is prob a 5-year+ marathon but other than that people can always just wait and come back in 2-3 years when new plot is added instead of complain if all they are worried about is the plot and not the fap. At least unlike thousands of other dead AVNs like SSP this one still has hope.

Its better if there are long term intentions for the project that the person/group working on it understand all its systems instead of building directly on top of some ones work just to rush out a continuation, if the intent is to expand and improve the original than trying force changes into an already developed product like your suggesting is the wrong way to do things.
