Hey everyone,

I’m writing this post to address an issue that a few of us in the translation community have been noticing recently on the forum.

Many of the English-translated games being uploaded here originate directly from the —crafted by hardworking translators like Breezerthecat, Dazed, and several other dedicated members. Lately, we've seen multiple uploads posted simply as "TL'd into English" without any mention or credit given to the people who actually spent the time working on, fixing, and releasing these patches.

As a translator member on the server myself, it’s really disappointing to see. We want Lewd Corner to be a better, more respectful platform for creators and users alike—and definitely not repeat the nonsense that happens on places like F95 zone.

Why Proper Credit & Respect Matter (And Why F95 Sucks at It)

To give you an idea of why this is such a major issue: recently, an asshat on F95 uploaded one of my own translations without asking for permission or even letting me know. Keep in mind, the translation was already publicly available for free on the Dazed Discord server for anyone to grab. To make it worse, this bad actor lied and acted like I had given them the green light to post it.

I appealed to the F95 mods, requested thread ownership, and fixed the proper sources/credits myself. But then, a week later? They stripped my ownership and handed the thread over to a "bot" account. At that point, I just completely gave up dealing with F95's stupidity.

That kind of blatant disrespect for translators and brain-dead moderation is exactly what we want to avoid here. Translators put a massive amount of time into making these games playable, and taking 10 seconds to credit the original authors or ask before reposting is just basic courtesy and due diligence.

How We Can Move Forward:

  1. For Uploaders: If you are uploading a game, please double-check where the translation patch came from and include the translator's name in your thread description.
  2. If You Don't Know / Don't Have Time: If you’re unsure who translated a specific release or are too busy to hunt down the credits, please reach out to me! I am more than happy to volunteer my time to help check, find, and supply the proper credits for your post so the original creators get the recognition they deserve.
We aren't trying to cause drama or make things difficult—we just want to build a community that actually values translators and sets a higher standard.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and let's keep making this community a great place for everyone

So, I mostly agree with you, and as someone who wants translators to NOT run away, I support most of what you say. The only thing that kinda stuck in my head is a small thing with "without asking for permission". I kinda want to let this go, but... I cant. So, I get how you feel, and it is not wrong, but... these are "pirate" sites. The point of these sites, if you drill down, is to "steal" these games. I feel by default, you should have expectations when dealing with these sites that your work will be stolen. Asking for credits is fine, but you need to remove that expectation and instead just hope for it. Work for it (ask, explain to people, etc, just like you are) but dont expect it. That's something you have to deal with when you decide to work with "pirate" sites. Also, I am willing to bet that at least a good chunk of the people using your TL without "permission" are just being lazy. They are not purposely trying to cause you issues.

I think it would be good for mods/uploaders to give their input on this. Is this something you would like to help with? Maybe ask TLs who are not credit to report a game and ask uploaders to try to look for a TL listed and if so, ensure credit is given? Maybe add a TL line to the template (I imagine this could end up being a messy task).

I personally would try to make a little effort to appease TLs since we already don't have enough and MTL is dirty-ass, so even cursory review and fixing shit can help a lot.

As for you, the TL, do you put your name in the zip filename or even in a txt file or something in the game dir? Some way to stamp that you worked on it that you can easily point out? Not that it would help this that much, but it does kinda prove that the game at least came through your pipeline at some point. The uploader should not have to dig into the game to find who TL'd it. Not only are some (unless this changed since I was staff) of the games are uploaded via bot, but the uploaders usually work in bulk. So if the TL of a game is not clearly marked wherever they get it, they might just not see it. And for a bot, to locate that (prob using regex) and insert it into the post template will require work. I can tell you that if the game is translated decently, I have NO CLUE who translated it. Sad, but true. I don't go looking for it. I sometimes see it in the main menu for people that do that, but its rare. Having it in the filename might help, but not for the bot and only if it is clear "TL-By-BOB", not just "-BOB". Nobody knows who the fuck bob is. Well, for "-DazedTL" that might work good enough. Expecting an uploader who is rushing to grab stuff and toss it up in a process they have spent time learning to do is not going to be easy. You learning their process and making it easier for them to help with while changing their process as little as possible is the most likely fix to work.

And for your later comments about brain-dead moderation... I hate to stick up for Fuck95... I really do, but.. sites like these can't really get along without automation of some sort. And the non-automated parts are going to find patterns to shorten their process to be as fast and painless as possible. So it might not be just the moderators being brain-dead that was the issue. It might have been that your changes would have caused a major problem with their automation or process and they just didn't want to deal with the hassle (sucks, but... thats most of life).

Thank you for the detailed response, Darkrift—that really shifted my perception of the whole situation.

Honestly, a big part of my frustration was just me venting about F95. Beyond the bot/mod stuff, my biggest issue with them is their ban on loli content. Since that makes up about 80% of what I translate (along with a few other genres mixed in), most of my work won't even be allowed or seen on their site anyway.

That’s why it pissed me off so much seeing an uploader grab my publicly available translation from our Discord server and post it over there. If it were on sites like RyuuGames, KimochiGaming, or similar places, I’d be 100% fine with it because we have a give-and-take relationship. Those sites just host the game directly—a clean game page with download links and no individual user threads or middleman drama attached to it—so there's zero malice behind it.

With F95, however, it feels purely one-sided—taking my work while giving me nothing but grief in return. Because of that, I don't want to be associated with their platform at all. That frustration definitely clouded my vision and made me view the whole uploader situation here through a much more malicious lens than it actually was.

Regarding your point about filenames, I actually already tag my translation archives directly using a clear format like GAMENAME Ver 1.0 TL.HONUEL. Beyond that, I personally prefer to only translate the title in English directly on the game window's top title bar, without adding any extra watermarks or custom logos inside the game, out of respect for the original developers.

That said, moving forward I’ll probably start including a very eye-catching README file inside the zip folder. The main focus of that file will be clear translator credits, contact info, and support/commission links—specifically so uploaders have an easy source to copy and paste that info directly into the thread description when posting.

I really appreciate the reality check on how bulk uploaders and automation operate. Moving forward, if an uploader is moving too fast or feeling lazy, maybe a solid middle ground is letting the community highlight the missing credits directly—whether that's through a dedicated credit tag/field in the main thread or by letting members drop the translator info and be highlighted/pinned on the comments. That way, if the original uploader doesn't bother doing it, the community can easily take action and ensure the translator still gets recognized without slowing anyone down.

Please... continue. I will not stand in your way there.

Also, the staff here seem to be pretty decent about shit like this, and since none chimed in, my recommendation would be for you to find any game you translated (or ones you know were translated by others) and report it. Choose other, and nicely state that you feel the translators name should be added. I doubt they will give you shit about it. And if they do, keep screenshot of the records for later. Also, if you do this, make SURE you are correct. Dont report a game you THINK is your translation. Confirm first, or you will just make a bigger mess. This will likely help by alerting mods who will then fix the thread, but also slowly bring attention to it so over time they can see if it is a frequent issue, and maybe staff can vote to change the process.
