I see it's yet another illogical and pointless moral panic which back in the 1990's already included video game violence and drugs before they got bored and moved on to lolis and anti-ped0s (equally little to no connection between the two) since that was the more popular political bandwagon to jump on even though laws already existed to specifically cover that since 1986 (thanks Tracy Lords). Before that it was worshiping Satan or anything with homos in them (can't have those making your kid gay or compelling them to sacrifice animals and having them go to hell after). Maybe in another decade or 2 they will get bored again and move on to something else, what that is being anybody's guess.

It's the old "gateway drug" concept - the simplistic notion that one thing inevitably leads to another. Drug warriors thought, and many still do, that smoking weed inevitably leads to shooting heroin/snorting cocaine/smoking crack or meth. Bible thumpers thought that listening to heavy metal music or playing Dungeons & Dragons inevitably led to Satanic worship. Lots of right-wingers today (culture war conservatives, not the libertarian right) still think that the open existence of gay people inevitably leads to the magical corruption and conversion of kids to being gay themselves. These theories have generally been debunked by psychologists and most reasonable people no longer accept them as the truisms they were once considered to be.

People aren't so reasonable, however, about sex and porn. Despite scads of evidence that allowing porn, strip clubs, and the like to exist in a society decreases violent crime across the board (not just sex crimes, all violent crimes) lots of folks on both the left and right believe passionately and absolutely that any level of "sex industry" inevitably leads toward sex crimes and sexual violence. And that's just when it involves adults. Add in "think of the children!" and you have a recipe for mass oppression. And psychologists know that anything that smacks of "sympathy" or "leniency" or "justification" (which is to say, anything less than demonization) of ****philia/hebephilia/ephebephilia is toxic to their careers and reputation, and so they join the pile-on just to be safe, agreeing that the consumption of loli-adjacent material, whether or not it involves real children or teens, inevitably leads to every consumer of such material becoming a child rapist (when realistically, the vast majority of people who consume even morally reprehensible real child porn most likely use it as a relief valve for their urges and do not molest kids themselves).

So what the authorities want is total obedience and absolute abstinence from anything they don't like. Just like always. Oh, and be sure to always do as you're told, don't question authority, and be sure to consume whatever your corporate masters wish you to consume.
