Which game engine do you hate?

i think it's pretty clear everybody hates RPGM, but are there any other engines that aren't good?
Unity and Unreal Engine crash WAY too easily. HTML sucks because it's like it's in a browser - an 99.99% of the time is one that uses real porn, which is lazy and doesn't fit the story, ho the look scene to scene, etc.

RPGM can have some good titles, like To The Moon. But for this? I'm a big Ren'Py fan. The system works, and some games do so much with it.

TBH this one should have been a poll.

The more ancient porn from 2015 onward have such weird engine, at least renpy is becoming more popular

Unity is by far the worst. Shitty UIs. Pain in the ass to find hooks in for translation purposes and even when you do, half the time it'll overload your CPU.

For me, Renpy is number one because of its simplicity and because it’s the best for visual novels. All the others—like RPGM, Godot, Unity, and Unreal Engine—just aren’t the same. I use the save feature a lot, or even skip ahead, and with those other engines, that’s difficult. It’s not the case for all of them, of course, but it’s just not the same.

RPGM can be hit and miss like ren'py, but Unity has always been bad for me. Laggy and I have not ever had good games on it. On top of it huge file size.

Only ever tried one game on QSP and the experience was shitty enough to not try another one ever again lol. Might have to try another at some point but it was really garbage even though the game itself was apparently rated real well.

Also, feel like a lot of people don't mess with RPGM games but I feel its more on the game that was made and not the engine itself. You can make some sick games within limitations of the engine. For those of you who actually play a lot of stuff outside NSFW games, Lisa: The Painful and Omori are great ones that come to mind that were made in RPGM.

Maybe that's right, it's possible that the games I tried weren't so good, I'll give it another chance at some point

Unity. As per usual for Unity games in general it doesn't have to be an unoptimized resource hog (but it usually is) and it's perfectly capable of having good UX with a proper interface and navigation (but it usually doesn't).

I'm honestly surprised with the hate that rpgm games get, but I'm kinda biased cause I tend to like games with gameplay elements rather than just straight up Visual Novels. As long as they avoid repetitive combat or stupid large zones It's by far my favorite engine.

Qsp. Is the biggest piece of dogshi i ever seen. Rpgm btw is not that bad, I don't know, it's just not for everyone, especially for newgen guys, who grew up in new game era. Renpy is laggy and slow, but yet it's convenient and has all the features it needs, without millions of stupid useless buttons.

I know HTML is not an engine but when i saw the post i had to say it. %99 percent AI HTML games are like garbo. There is some outsiders but still it is what it is.

I won't be the first or the last, most likely, to say RPGM.

As for me, games on this engine feel outdated and crooked in terms of the number of bugs. I'm not hating the very idea of RPGM, it's the addition of real gameplay, but its implementation could have been done much better, and I hope there will be something improved in the same way in the future 🫢

I ignore pretty much everything on Ren'Py, but that's because I'm not a huge fan of the whole VN genre (especially when it's on rails like a lot of Ren'Py content). If all I can do is pick the gooniest options when "interacting" with a girl, I'd rather converse with a local llm. They are dumb, sycophantic, and require a lot of re-rolls, but at least I can throw it a curveball and see what happens next.
