You hating RPGmaker games didn't surprise us. Had you said 3dcg Renpy slop, i'd be very surprised though

3D is a HELL of a lot better than 2D. Cartoons are for children, not for porn.

Have you ever played Maitetsu? What they did with the KiriKiri engine can only be described as a miracle.

9-nine- also used the ADV.MASTER engine to its limits. And the E-Mote system in some games is also great. Renpy has access to the Live2d Cubism and their own ATL systems, but they are rarely used.

I enjoy playing Ren'Py visual novels the most. I've enjoyed Koikatsu Party which I think falls into the dating sim category and lets you customize the characters

The best graphism for me is JASON, or harem hotel for cartoon.
Jason is a real 3D in game.

I love Touching/ feeling games, 2D is usually best but if a 3D game does it well, i like it. i especially like when there's progression such as:- she starts off with a lot of boundries but she slowly lets you feel more areas, that's always nice. The Taming Massage Parlor, Mari's story is a good example of this (even if the game is held back by being a bit too slow but the excecution makes up for it)

All kinds of formats can be good it all depends on developer skill. Story being immersive or not does not depend from engine or format as much as from the creator.
