Overview:
"Welcome to Crimson City! A city known for it's diverse districts, cutting edge technology, and promising citizens. However, everyone has their own dark secrets to hide. When a strange zombie outbreak occurs, it's up to one hero to save the beautiful women remaining and put a stop to this horrible mystery plaguing his home."
Zombie's Retreat 2 is an action RPG involving a young (18yo) adult caught up in a horrible incident. Taking place shortly after the events of Zombie's Retreat 1, our hero will learn more about the true mysteries involving the zombie outbreak while rebuilding his own district: The Grid.
Fight zombies, construct your own home base, and most importantly, 'bond' with your beautiful survivors!

Beta 0.21 includes a brand new winter seasonal event in Crimson City!
There is a temporary Elf NPC in The Grid who will transport you to the new event contents! This update assumes you have maxed out your relationship with both Meredith & Michelle so I highly encourage you play through their stories first!
The Frosty Court is a secluded district in the city with a famously chilly climate! In order to make sure the holidays feel nice and cozy, it'll be up to you to find the lost presents for and deliver the most delicious holiday treats!

To unlock the bathhouse, a new tournament is available in the Colosseum located in The Underground! The new tournament will
become available after you've completed the initial story questline in The Underground (after viewing Violets NSFW scene)
The Colosseum also has proper functionality now. Losing will take you back to the lobby*. And tournaments can be repeated
for a small cash prize.
Future tournaments will be added in further updates!
*The initial violet cup will still result in a game over and the game will now warn you to save first
== The Grid - Customization ==
More customization options are available in The Grid. Street lamps can now be crafted.
Additionally, a new tradable sidequest NPC is available in The Underground. She will unlock new customization options for the
street lamps as well as allow you to customize the exterior of the home base!

Added a brand new seasonal event with the Lunar New Year celebrations!
Olivia and Meredith receive mysterious invites to The Underground. Everyone knows a lot of shady things happen down there but
this might be an opportunity that's too fun to pass up! Of course, it'll be up to you to make sure they are supervised. Maybe
you'll get to join in the fun too!
To begin this event, a temporary NPC is placed in The Grid. This woman in the blue outfit will automatically transport you
to the event location. This way, you can start on a brand new save file and enjoy the new content.
In a future update, the event will be properly implemented and will need to be unlocked but for now, enjoy the easy access!

A new milkshake is also available to craft at Stacy's Diner! The Gold Leaf Milkshake will reveal hidden items around the map
temporarily. It's effect currently lasts until 7 items have been found.
In the future, I am planning on a hidden item respawn system to give this milkshake more long term usefulness.

Beta 0.14 introduces a sidequest storyline for Fiona, the bombshell queen of construction!
In order to begin her new storyline content, you will need to have first completed her main story quest involving opening
up the East Subway Tunnel. It's available pretty early on in the game so you don't need to progress far!
Fiona is always working on new ways to help give you more scavenging opportunities so perhaps she has some fun ideas in
mind this time. You'll have to talk to her yourself to find out!
== The Grid Expansions ==
Additionally, The Grid has had some general changes/improvements. Further customization options will be added with future
updates as well.
-- Gardens --
Gardens have received an overhaul in how they function. Every 3 days, your garden will be automatically harvested overnight.
In order to increase the yield, you can spend 1 water to hydrate the garden. Rainy days will automatically water it for
that day as well!
Players who regularly hydrate their garden will yield more fruit on average compared to the old daily harvest rate and water
now has another purpose that should make it a little more of a valuable resource
Interacting with the garden will let you check on how the garden is doing as well as the option to water it

The central plot to the left of the house can now be selected when building. Additionally, interacting with a plot that has
a construction will give you the option to move/swap it to a new location for added customization
-- Planter Customization --
The ability to customize the garden planters has been added. After meeting the initial construction requirements, you can
interact with them to change their appearance as you like.
More constructable options will be added to continue allowing for players to customize The Grid to their liking so stay tuned!

Beta 0.13 is a short but sweet update adding a special event for Meredith for winning the second Character Showdown tournament!
Leslie, the winner of the first tournament, also received a special scene that is viewable in ZR1 as well as ZR2.
In order to access the new event, there is a temporary NPC just below the starting house that will take you to the new
content. In the future, this costume will need to be unlocked and accessed differently once proper implementation of events
are finished.
Additionally, in a future update, you will be able to have Meredith change into this new outfit for regular use around

== Content Update ==
Beta 0.11 adds the conclusion to Olivia's main storyline in Zombie's Retreat 2! As curiosity grows around her shady
stalker and her missing panties, she asks you to help investigate and get to the bottom of this mystery.
In addition to Olivia's story, this update features a few old mechanics getting small improvements to help improve the
overall Quality of Life for ZR2. Expect more changes, improvements, and additions as updates continue on.
== Fishing Revamp ==
Fishing has been adjusted in this update. A new fishing point has been added as well as the chance to find rare/junk items.
Fishing points now can be exhausted but every new day they will refresh back to their 'max' fishing capacity.
Some of Stacy's milkshake's effects now also apply to fishing!
Rare/Junk items are primarily meant to be sold/traded to vendors. But in the future, some questlines may require
some of these items. While money doesn't have much use quite yet, it will be essential for bonus events, and other items.
== Brick & Metal Harvesting ==
A new crafting item is included with your crafting guide. The Heavy Hammer is a breakable tool that can harvest brick from
new brick piles laying around the city. This should allow for a less RNG-dependent way to gather brick for buildings.
Brick isn't used much currently, but in the future it will be a key resource for buildings in The Grid.
The metal-cutting saw is also now dual purpose! It can still cut holes through fences to progress, but there are also
metal deposits around the city. These are a bit more rare and take longer to replenish, but should be very worthwhile!

A spooky new district has been discovered in Crimson City and upon visiting, you run into some familiar faces with special
new outfits. What could Meredith and Fiona have planned for the night? Whatever it is, it's sure to keep you busy trying
to please them both!
To experience this event, there is a temporary NPC just below your house who will take you to the event. In a future update
accessing the event will be handled in an entirely different manner so expect this to change.

Beta 0.9 focuses on the story of Crimson City with the addition of The Underground - a shadowy district full of dirty secrets
and surprises!
To experience this continuation, you'll need to have progressed far enough in the game to meet Lucy. Her questline is where
the main story progresses from so continue to interact with her and learn more about the mysteries that lurk in the city!
== The Underground ==
(SPOILER WARNING!!!)
The new district, The Underground, serves as another peaceful hub for new activities. Here, you are able to buy/sell certain
resources which should help cover up for some shortages you may be having!
Additionally, The Colosseum is a new location within The Underground that should serve for a lot of really fun ideas later
towards the end of the game or even in the post game. Various boss fights including super boss fights are some of the things
planned for this area to provide challenges intended for those who are willing to attempt it!
Story/events in The Underground will likely expand in future updates as well
== Michelle ==
After being teased nearly a year ago, Michelle is finally able to be recruited in ZR2! As of Beta 0.9, she doesn't have any
story content just yet but her time to shine will be here before you know it!
In the meantime, she's awfully stressed. Given the current circumstances, it seems reasonable. But maybe there's something
or someone who's really driving up that anxiety.

This update adds NSFW content to two characters: Jenny & Meredith! Meredith receives a small new questline after her main story is complete while Jenny receives a proper conclusion to her main story!
The NW corner of the West District has received some modifications. These new areas are very important for the new quests in Beta 0.8 as well as some upcoming content.
Difficulty options are now available with a choice of Easy or Normal mode! (Hardcore will come at a later date.) Transferred save files will be asked to choose their difficulty the first time you enter The Grid.
Easy mode also has the ability to activate Cheat mode. The journal in your bedroom will have the ability to toggle invincibility mode & no water/food demands. However, this will label your save file as "Cheat" as a small repercussion.
I'm hoping these changes add a bit more accessibility for those who enjoy the world of ZR2 but don't necessarily want to struggle surviving in it.

Beta 0.7 concludes the main portion of Stacy's story as well as adding a bunch of new QoL features & other activities!
Stacy's story continues from her early milkshake creating and heats up as she feels the need to return back to her previous
job for a short task. As usual, things can never be simple when a familiar threat appears!
== Pictures/Camera ==
The camera feature has been added to Zombie's Retreat 2, offering a new gallery that you can unlock pictures for as you
interact with the survivors of Crimson City!
To find the camera, you will need to trade with the new mysterious dealer who can now be found south of the Medical District.
Once obtained, the camera may snap a bonus picture during certain NSFW scenes offering a little more context and views to
existing scenes.
At the time of this update, only one picture exists but there will be many more added!
(Note: The gallery size can't be changed after a save is made. To compensate, the gallery holds 50 pictures... it is
highly unlikely I will hit 50 pictures by the end of ZR2)
== Fast Travel/Bus Stops ==
The bus stop system from Zombie's Retreat 1 makes a return now in Crimson City! Bus stops can be found in various areas of
the city and once unlocked, you can instantly travel between discovered bus stops with ease.
This will also mark the first time you can go to the East & West Districts in one scavenge session!
In a future update, a buildable bus stop will be added to The Grid so you can fast travel to even further points of the city
with ease.

Beta 0.6 focuses almost entirely on concluding the main portion of Meredith's story! When the dangerous threats of Crimson

This update introduces the beginning's of Olivia's storyline as well as finishes up the base functionality for Stacy's Diner!
I mentioned a bit before during the $5+ Patron release but this update is one that in general I wasn't super pleased with. I feel the past few updates haven't had a satisfactory amount of NSFW content and have focused too much on game mechanics. But still, I think fans of Olivia may enjoy the start of what's to come and those who enjoy deeper gameplay elements may enjoy the improvements that milkshakes can add.
For Beta 0.6, my plan is to hit the ground running with a proper focus update. I'd really like to finally introduce that 'home run' moment with Meredith! I'll make a post detailing my plans for that very soon. NSFW content & story are the primary focus moving into 2022.

Beta 0.4 splits most of it's attention between the main story & Meredith's personal story.
When you have rescued atleast 2 new women, you should experience a cutscene when you go to sleep. This cutscene will lead you into the first major quest for progressing the main story of the game.
For Meredith, her content continues where her previous update left off at. Continue to talk with her and see what new events await!

Probably the most noticeable part of this update is the fact that the game is now featured in larger screen size!
The character busts & artwork were all re-done to prevent any upscaled quality loss so the images should look a bit more crisp and clear on your screens!
There may be some slight hiccups with some maps & other details since I often hide things offscreen that normally wouldn't be viewable so I will monitor and check for any of these issues.
== New Weapon ==
The shotgun makes a return in this update finally allowing you a second weapon to use! The shotgun has a bit more utility in this game compared to ZR1 as it has the ability to kill most zombies in one shot. It's meant to be a more expensive but effective method at clearing out zombies.
You can find this new weapon during the new main questline content.
== Stereo/Music Control ==
I'm still experimenting with a default song that I think properly represents the feeling that I want to convey in The Grid.
There is a new constructable object that will allow you to customize which song plays in your home base. For those that prefer the nostalgic ZR1 music, that can be selected.
Future songs will likely be added along with the ability to change what music plays when exploring outside.

Jenny's story- I'm curious how people think of the take I went with on the early part of her story. With ZR2, I want the dialogue to feel a little more real & meaningful so hopefully the emotions that Jenny struggles with show up a little bit here. It's tricky trying to establish characters & backgrounds while still keeping things a bit more brief. Hopefully I did an okay job with that in this case.
As far as new features & maps go, there's a good chunk of new areas to explore here. Most of the new areas are set up to be expanded upon later as well. The park for instance is pretty small but my plan is to add a whole section that'll likely be a mini-dungeon essentially. I recommend checking out the changelog (included with the PC download) if you want to find all of the new content right away.
I know Stacy fans will probably wish to see a bit more content for her. I was hoping to get that early start but if you missed my last post, I need more time to focus on the facility itself and then her story can be intertwined with the diner. But, this update really shows off what The Grid is meant to do and the ability to place buildings down is now figured out!
In the future, I'm working heavily towards preventing the need to wait 4 months for another update. The NSFW content, the main roadblock causing the delay is something that is already well under way for Beta 0.4!

Beta 0.2 begins to get the ball rolling with the main content of Zombie's Retreat 2, starting with Meredith.
This update begins some of her early quest/storyline so there is finally a little bit of NSFW content added to the game. Her story is by no means completed yet so there's still more to come but I really wanted to have H content finally available.
== The Grid Functionality ==
Behind the scenes, this is probably the highlight of this update. A lot of time was spent trying to figure out how to properly
convey a clean and logical menu system for building new buildings, editing previous structures, and assigning quests to items
within The Grid's functionality.
With this update, Fiona's Day 2 quest now can be completed and this gives a little tease as to how you will be able to build and
edit buildings/facilities in future updates!

I've added the first new rescuable woman to the game, Olivia. Olivia is very similar to Caroline in Zombie's Retreat 1 as far as
her 'role' to the main character. You can customize her role to your liking.
When recruited, she will occupy the empty room in your upstairs. Future rescuable women will instead move into the motel to
the North East of your town home.
Her recruitment cutscenes also varies slightly if you have specific allies in your party! This should help keep the interactions a
little more natural.

Added a brand new seasonal event with the Lunar New Year celebrations!
Olivia and Meredith receive mysterious invites to The Underground. Everyone knows a lot of shady things happen down there but
this might be an opportunity that's too fun to pass up! Of course, it'll be up to you to make sure they are supervised. Maybe
you'll get to join in the fun too!
To begin this event, a temporary NPC is placed in The Grid. This woman in the blue outfit will automatically transport you
to the event location. This way, you can start on a brand new save file and enjoy the new content.
In a future update, the event will be properly implemented and will need to be unlocked but for now, enjoy the easy access!

Beta 0.14 introduces a sidequest storyline for Fiona, the bombshell queen of construction!
In order to begin her new storyline content, you will need to have first completed her main story quest involving opening
up the East Subway Tunnel. It's available pretty early on in the game so you don't need to progress far!
Fiona is always working on new ways to help give you more scavenging opportunities so perhaps she has some fun ideas in
mind this time. You'll have to talk to her yourself to find out!
== The Grid Expansions ==
Additionally, The Grid has had some general changes/improvements. Further customization options will be added with future
updates as well.

Gardens have received an overhaul in how they function. Every 3 days, your garden will be automatically harvested overnight.
In order to increase the yield, you can spend 1 water to hydrate the garden. Rainy days will automatically water it for
that day as well!
Players who regularly hydrate their garden will yield more fruit on average compared to the old daily harvest rate and water
now has another purpose that should make it a little more of a valuable resource
Interacting with the garden will let you check on how the garden is doing as well as the option to water it

The central plot to the left of the house can now be selected when building. Additionally, interacting with a plot that has
a construction will give you the option to move/swap it to a new location for added customization

The ability to customize the garden planters has been added. After meeting the initial construction requirements, you can
interact with them to change their appearance as you like.
More constructable options will be added to continue allowing for players to customize The Grid to their liking so stay tuned!

Beta 0.13 is a short but sweet update adding a special event for Meredith for winning the second Character Showdown tournament!
Leslie, the winner of the first tournament, also received a special scene that is viewable in ZR1 as well as ZR2.
In order to access the new event, there is a temporary NPC just below the starting house that will take you to the new
content. In the future, this costume will need to be unlocked and accessed differently once proper implementation of events

Beta 0.11 adds the conclusion to Olivia's main storyline in Zombie's Retreat 2! As curiosity grows around her shady
stalker and her missing panties, she asks you to help investigate and get to the bottom of this mystery.
In addition to Olivia's story, this update features a few old mechanics getting small improvements to help improve the
overall Quality of Life for ZR2. Expect more changes, improvements, and additions as updates continue on.
== Fishing Revamp ==
Fishing has been adjusted in this update. A new fishing point has been added as well as the chance to find rare/junk items.
Fishing points now can be exhausted but every new day they will refresh back to their 'max' fishing capacity.
Some of Stacy's milkshake's effects now also apply to fishing!
Rare/Junk items are primarily meant to be sold/traded to vendors. But in the future, some questlines may require

== Brick & Metal Harvesting ==
A new crafting item is included with your crafting guide. The Heavy Hammer is a breakable tool that can harvest brick from
new brick piles laying around the city. This should allow for a less RNG-dependent way to gather brick for buildings.
Brick isn't used much currently, but in the future it will be a key resource for buildings in The Grid.
The metal-cutting saw is also now dual purpose! It can still cut holes through fences to progress, but there are also
metal deposits around the city. These are a bit more rare and take longer to replenish, but should be very worthwhile!

A spooky new district has been discovered in Crimson City and upon visiting, you run into some familiar faces with special
new outfits. What could Meredith and Fiona have planned for the night? Whatever it is, it's sure to keep you busy trying
to please them both!
To experience this event, there is a temporary NPC just below your house who will take you to the event. In a future update
accessing the event will be handled in an entirely different manner so expect this to change.

Beta 0.9 focuses on the story of Crimson City with the addition of The Underground - a shadowy district full of dirty secrets
and surprises!
To experience this continuation, you'll need to have progressed far enough in the game to meet Lucy. Her questline is where
the main story progresses from so continue to interact with her and learn more about the mysteries that lurk in the city!
== The Underground ==
(SPOILER WARNING!!!)
The new district, The Underground, serves as another peaceful hub for new activities. Here, you are able to buy/sell certain
resources which should help cover up for some shortages you may be having!
Additionally, The Colosseum is a new location within The Underground that should serve for a lot of really fun ideas later
towards the end of the game or even in the post game. Various boss fights including super boss fights are some of the things
planned for this area to provide challenges intended for those who are willing to attempt it!
Story/events in The Underground will likely expand in future updates as well
== Michelle ==
After being teased nearly a year ago, Michelle is finally able to be recruited in ZR2! As of Beta 0.9, she doesn't have any
story content just yet but her time to shine will be here before you know it!
In the meantime, she's awfully stressed. Given the current circumstances, it seems reasonable. But maybe there's something
or someone who's really driving up that anxiety.
v0.8.1 Beta Public
This update adds NSFW content to two characters: Jenny & Meredith! Meredith receives a small new questline after her main story is complete while Jenny receives a proper conclusion to her main story!
The NW corner of the West District has received some modifications. These new areas are very important for the new quests in Beta 0.8 as well as some upcoming content.
Difficulty options are now available with a choice of Easy or Normal mode! (Hardcore will come at a later date.) Transferred save files will be asked to choose their difficulty the first time you enter The Grid.
Easy mode also has the ability to activate Cheat mode. The journal in your bedroom will have the ability to toggle invincibility mode & no water/food demands. However, this will label your save file as "Cheat" as a small repercussion.
I'm hoping these changes add a bit more accessibility for those who enjoy the world of ZR2 but don't necessarily want to struggle surviving in it.

Beta 0.7 concludes the main portion of Stacy's story as well as adding a bunch of new QoL features & other activities!
Stacy's story continues from her early milkshake creating and heats up as she feels the need to return back to her previous
job for a short task. As usual, things can never be simple when a familiar threat appears!
== Pictures/Camera ==
The camera feature has been added to Zombie's Retreat 2, offering a new gallery that you can unlock pictures for as you
interact with the survivors of Crimson City!
To find the camera, you will need to trade with the new mysterious dealer who can now be found south of the Medical District.
Once obtained, the camera may snap a bonus picture during certain NSFW scenes offering a little more context and views to
existing scenes.
At the time of this update, only one picture exists but there will be many more added!
(Note: The gallery size can't be changed after a save is made. To compensate, the gallery holds 50 pictures... it is
highly unlikely I will hit 50 pictures by the end of ZR2)
== Fast Travel/Bus Stops ==
The bus stop system from Zombie's Retreat 1 makes a return now in Crimson City! Bus stops can be found in various areas of
the city and once unlocked, you can instantly travel between discovered bus stops with ease.
This will also mark the first time you can go to the East & West Districts in one scavenge session!
In a future update, a buildable bus stop will be added to The Grid so you can fast travel to even further points of the city
with ease.

This update introduces the beginning's of Olivia's storyline as well as finishes up the base functionality for Stacy's Diner!
I mentioned a bit before during the $5+ Patron release but this update is one that in general I wasn't super pleased with. I feel the past few updates haven't had a satisfactory amount of NSFW content and have focused too much on game mechanics. But still, I think fans of Olivia may enjoy the start of what's to come and those who enjoy deeper gameplay elements may enjoy the improvements that milkshakes can add.
For Beta 0.6, my plan is to hit the ground running with a proper focus update. I'd really like to finally introduce that 'home run' moment with Meredith! I'll make a post detailing my plans for that very soon. NSFW content & story are the primary focus moving into 2022.

Beta 0.4 splits most of it's attention between the main story & Meredith's personal story.
When you have rescued atleast 2 new women, you should experience a cutscene when you go to sleep. This cutscene will lead you into the first major quest for progressing the main story of the game.
For Meredith, her content continues where her previous update left off at. Continue to talk with her and see what new events await!
== New Resolution ==
Probably the most noticeable part of this update is the fact that the game is now featured in larger screen size!
The character busts & artwork were all re-done to prevent any upscaled quality loss so the images should look a bit more crisp and clear on your screens!
There may be some slight hiccups with some maps & other details since I often hide things offscreen that normally wouldn't be viewable so I will monitor and check for any of these issues.
== New Weapon ==
The shotgun makes a return in this update finally allowing you a second weapon to use! The shotgun has a bit more utility in this game compared to ZR1 as it has the ability to kill most zombies in one shot. It's meant to be a more expensive but effective method at clearing out zombies.
You can find this new weapon during the new main questline content.
== Stereo/Music Control ==
I'm still experimenting with a default song that I think properly represents the feeling that I want to convey in The Grid.
There is a new constructable object that will allow you to customize which song plays in your home base. For those that prefer the nostalgic ZR1 music, that can be selected.
Future songs will likely be added along with the ability to change what music plays when exploring outside.

Jenny's story- I'm curious how people think of the take I went with on the early part of her story. With ZR2, I want the dialogue to feel a little more real & meaningful so hopefully the emotions that Jenny struggles with show up a little bit here. It's tricky trying to establish characters & backgrounds while still keeping things a bit more brief. Hopefully I did an okay job with that in this case.
As far as new features & maps go, there's a good chunk of new areas to explore here. Most of the new areas are set up to be expanded upon later as well. The park for instance is pretty small but my plan is to add a whole section that'll likely be a mini-dungeon essentially. I recommend checking out the changelog (included with the PC download) if you want to find all of the new content right away.
I know Stacy fans will probably wish to see a bit more content for her. I was hoping to get that early start but if you missed my last post, I need more time to focus on the facility itself and then her story can be intertwined with the diner. But, this update really shows off what The Grid is meant to do and the ability to place buildings down is now figured out!
In the future, I'm working heavily towards preventing the need to wait 4 months for another update. The NSFW content, the main roadblock causing the delay is something that is already well under way for Beta 0.4!

Beta 0.2 begins to get the ball rolling with the main content of Zombie's Retreat 2, starting with Meredith.
This update begins some of her early quest/storyline so there is finally a little bit of NSFW content added to the game. Her story is by no means completed yet so there's still more to come but I really wanted to have H content finally available.
== The Grid Functionality ==
Behind the scenes, this is probably the highlight of this update. A lot of time was spent trying to figure out how to properly
convey a clean and logical menu system for building new buildings, editing previous structures, and assigning quests to items
within The Grid's functionality.
With this update, Fiona's Day 2 quest now can be completed and this gives a little tease as to how you will be able to build and
edit buildings/facilities in future updates!
Meredith's questline also has some ties to this new system. I hope I've done a satisfactory job making sure this system feels
easy to understand!
== Olivia Recruitable ==
I've added the first new rescuable woman to the game, Olivia. Olivia is very similar to Caroline in Zombie's Retreat 1 as far as
her 'role' to the main character. You can customize her role to your liking.
When recruited, she will occupy the empty room in your upstairs. Future rescuable women will instead move into the motel to
the North East of your town home.
Her recruitment cutscenes also varies slightly if you have specific allies in your party! This should help keep the interactions a
little more natural.
