yep same here ... but it was fun i guess to put a scale or rating on thing i like and don't like ...Man, have a lot of turn offs.

We were groomed by buzzfeed to chase these quizzesI dunno, man, not into the idea of having someone gather yet even more data they really don't need in order to tell me something I already know about myself.
As a person in neuropsychology, I can find more than a few issues with the survey. Not the least of which are the terminology's which have no real validity or reliability. In other words, how to you get two people to measure terms like Alpha or Omega consistently? Measures should follow methodologies which are well established like Likert-Type or Ordinal Scales (aka Unipolar, Bipolar, point driven, etc) and avoid shotgun style questions. Then, use stats to quantify the results in a meaningful way that doesn't go toward an inferential type of modality.Fellow deviants (and non-deviants who wandered in by chance....):
Why do we like what we like? What motivates our sexual preferences? Is it childhood experiences? Is it random?
Or is there an evolutionary basis for our kinks? How does homosexuality persist over evolutionary time? It's present in most of our great ape relatives and it's being discovered in more and more mammalian species. What selection pressures lead to it being preserved? And what about NTR? Why do so many of us hate it? Loli? or MILF? More evolutionary selection pressures at play?
I am trying to test my theory about what evolutionary selection pressures lead to various kinks. My hypothesis suggests that some kinks are going to be positively correlated with some others and negatively correlated with different kinks. And another group of kinks will similarly be positively and negatively correlated with other kinks and factors.
Help out a fellow pervert (that's perVECT!) and fill out the linked anonymous survey. The survey should take 10 to 15 minutes and I will be posting more of my theory for criticism and debate once I get enough survey responses.
This thread and survey has been approved and checked out by the moderators.
Hope to see the number of responses climb quickly (though please only take the survey one time. Multiple entries will (obviously) skew the results).
Please post here with any questions or comments. I think this is a topic that has the potential to generate a lot of discussion and debate, all of it friendly and collaborative, I'm sure.

Yeah, I wouldn't say I'm either alpha or omega and how I behave depends on the situation. So I just picked one so I could proceed. As a person in neuropsychology, I can find more than a few issues with the survey. These kinds of things can become very complex and are very prone to errors in ambiguous wording, scales bias and leading questions. And you need to reduce your response bias, sampling errors and of course misclassifications and coding mistakes too.
EDIT: One clear example is Age of Sexual Attraction. Each category should have a 1-10 or none to very scale. Most people have a range of likes and dislikes. Narrowing it down to just one choice is very poor modeling.
The study already exists on audible, everything from incest fetishes, to rape, beastiality and cuckoldry fetishes. Apparently everything has a reasonable explanation. I strongly recommend you read it:

Man any more details than this and it would feel like we're being profiled lmao. I already felt like it was quite detailed. But you're right for a proper study the longitudinal environmental variables should be taken into account as well. I feel this likely has more to do with the development of kinks than genetics.Ok, I'm a bit confused.
Feels like so many variables are missing.
If you want to prove your theory that it is evolutionary. Don't you also have to disprove the current psychological consensus that kink/fetishes are created by the environment we grow up in from around age of 8 to around age of 16. And that strong fetishes is a way for the mind and body to process childhood traumas?
Also, the current theory that sexuality is a spectrum, and we as a society were repressed to believing that straightness and monogamy is the "norm" via the crusades and through-out the dark ages.
So I'm missing a lot of question about parents, upbringing, abuse, trauma, role models, schooling, home status, when we started having sexual interest/thoughts, masturbation, first sexual experiences and so forth.
I find it hard to see if this proves anything besides commonality amongst kinks, preferences and personality with us perverts.![]()
That's part of the deal. I'd rather have honest answers and an inability to draw anything out further than have the ability to follow-up but the risk of dishonest answers. If my ideas are ever to see the light of day, all the survey does is offer a bit of context and maybe a starting point for a real study and random survey....I like the survey, but it does seem to miss some aspects for it to make actual proper conclusions. Some questions definitely need a variable score, and now you know my kinks (and maybe some correlation), but no other identifying factors beside "I have siblings" and "Im really into bdsm".

See above for thoughts about longitudinal study. But essentially I'd rather have an honest snapshot than a distorted view over time. You're right, (as are several others who have commented) that both would be ideal, but I was just trying to establish some kind of a baseline view, knowing that the questions were flawed and that the whole thing is going to take a significant rewrite with the help of somebody who probably has a advanced degree in statistics and evolutionary biology.Man any more details than this and it would feel like we're being profiled lmao. OP you probably should've also inquired about first sexual memory, development of porn viewing habits etc. For example - my reaction to my first encounter of incest was revulsion. It was repeated exposure to the kink and good writing and setting that made it assimilate into my preferred kink list.
