Honestly true and a huge missed opportunity for them. You have a head start copying your own game to make the sequel that dominates the future, if you wait this long you give everyone else enough time to copy it, and then everyone forgets the original.

HN didn't invent the metroidvania genre and not all current metroidvania games are copied from HN. Yes there are blatant copies even in the art style but each game has its own personality, and when Silksong comes out (which it will) it will be on everybody's mouth and it will sell ridiculously amount of copies thanks to the precedent of the prequel and expectations.

No game has to “dominate” as they all are different experiences, and neither people will “forget” a game considered a masterpiece by many.

I don't know about Silk Song. But I heard Song of the Silk will get released soon from a leak.

As of the 20th of Feb Silksong has been removed from Nintendo's website. The hope is dying out for a release or teaser anytime soon.

I think around October-November this year, because I heard some news (not official) that the release game will probably be published at games com and that some company/team/IDK want to stream an introduction/deep dive of the game this year, and I don't think that the devs would allow that stream before their game release if you keep their secrecy over the past few years in mind.
