I’m here to introduce myself. I’m normally a lurker, but I need to build up points to unlock the full forum, so here I am.

I don't really get how the points thingy work and how long it takes, I've read some posts but they seem to be outdated(?). Its honestly kind of a pain in the ass but the need to filter and gatekeep people is understandable.
I'm coming over from places like fuck95 and WTF, I have interest in weeb shit (you know the stuff, school girls and the feared 4 letter word) and "darker" games with content that usually gets banned in other places.

I'm in the same boat, but at least this place occasionally has some fun philosophical discussions, like the one about AI in different thread. I'm about done with the "progress" metrics, but earning the coins is going to take a bit longer. Here's a like, and hopefully your progress is quick and fun. It really does go by naturally enough if you treat this a bit like reddit and have fun with it.

Then you're in the right place. Just engage naturally in the threads. Discuss things that aren't just about grinding for M+, and be sure to slowly read threads and reply to people.

That's the best advice I can give for quickly ranking up.

Also a lurker by habit. Just signed up and am getting used to the UI as I look around the site. Currently trying to figure out how I messed up light/dark mode as some parts of the site are in light mode while others are in dark mode which is making some bits of navigating a little interesting.

I don't know. All the text and main areas are light but the background, buttons, and a few other navigation things are dark grey on slightly darker grey so I need to highlight the text in those areas if I want to read it.

Sound like you have some sort of browser side automatic dark-mode color converting thing. Had a friend who messed up every site he went into with one of those. Am I on the money or not?
