What's the deal with games sharing locations/models? Does it bother you?

I usually remove images and video or change what the game code requests, so this isn't an issue for me. If I used defaults though, there are so few actually good games that I wouldn't care if they used the same assets. I didn't get mad when flash games used the same sprites and RPGMaker defaults don't bother me.

To recognize supposedly different characters based on the same model can be distracting, but I'm fine with, and rather find it funny.

I don't mind the same backgrounds/locations but def give an eyeroll when seeing the same models

I get annoyed by this method of creating. I understand not everyone is great with daz or game engines but holy fuck its not rocket science. I don't want to be thinking of another game, I just want a new game and ill straight up delete when I see this. It a lazy copy/paste exercise, I wish more devs understood that you'll get a bigger fan base by being unique and creating from the heart.

Not really. I'd rather they focus on the characters. Don't really pay too much attention to the backgrounds.

There's a park I see a lot. Paved running path, bench to the left, and the path curves to the left and goes into a tunnel or underpass. I laugh when I see it now. And no, that doesn't bother me.

Doesn’t bother me at all. Most devs pull what they need from pre made assets so that’s is why we see them a lot. Very few people have the knowledge and computing power to do their own custom renders. It’s just too time consuming and costly in terms of what types of computers and software you would need. It’s far easier just to buy someone else’s work.

Not in my games, they always meet/date there and take morning runs ^^

the problem is not the sharing assets.
it is the lazy plot writing that only utilize the assets in the same way.

like, the famous clothing store, 95% dev make total redundant fitting-posting-peeking-fucking screen like a must do law.

for real, dev can make use of it in a different way.
a conflict screen, nothing is more lifelike than argue with LI on shopping.
a crimescreen, a safe house pretending to be a clothing shop, a client of your painter shop.

just be minimal creative will ease this syndrome of same assets

It doesn't really bother me. It's like recognizing an actor or filming location when you're watching a movie. Extra fun to try to explain it as being in a shared lewd cinematic universe.

I see it as movies, where actresses play multiple movies...
This. It used to bug me a little when I noticed a reused asset, now, I just look at all these games the same as I'd look at any movie or TV production. How many movies or TV shows have you've seen that famous tilted rock formation used in Star Trek all the time; it's really not that different from the way Hollywood reuses their assets all the time too.

I personally kind of hate the 3d models you see in renpy stuff. I'd prefer something less cookie cutter.

I don't see what those 2 have to do with each other?

You just got a preference for graphics, I don't like asian drawen style, mostly seen in rpgm for that matter...

Better than shit like Koikatsu or cartoony hand drawn.

While the Daz store does have quite a number of suitable assets, including some that I have not seen in games before, you need to realize that many devs are doing it as kind of hobby or at most as a side job. As such, they don't have the means / don't want to invest a lot of money in background assets. I suspect quite a few are actually just using pirated assets, and are therefore limited to assets which are widely available.

Personally I don't really care about backgrounds. Sure, some of the better games do go beyond, and that's nice and much appreciated, but I will still play games which use the very familiar assets.

But I do think that the models, in particular the love interests, should be unique to the game.
