VNs seem to have far more interesting plotlines and characters. It feels like the nature of the sandbox makes everything bland.

I prefer VN but if the sandbox is well done it can be entertaining

VN for 99%.
Sandbox games are usually fucked up with lots of unnecessary grind and bad plot design.

Visual Novel, but I like few sandbox games too

I prefer visual novels but I'm okay with sandbox games as long as they don't have a lot of grinding or roaming

I prefer visual novels vastly to the sandbox format.

visual novels just feel better to play, most sandbox games feel so empty, even after years of dev time

A good sandbox is better than a good VN, for me, since it makes me feel more immersed in the setting. A bad sandbox is more painful than a bad VN because I'm likely to keep trying to play it to at least try to get to the good stuff, whereas the bad VN's writing will usually have me put it down in the opening scenes.

Visual Novel Giving me a few choices is enough. I'm not a masochist.

Definitely VN. I don't get sandbox porn games, you have to spent a fuck ton of time grinding just to unluck some scene. It's just unnecessarily convoluted.

Both, but only if there is no pile of grind in the sandbox

Definitely prefer sandbox if it has it!

Visual Novel most of the time. Most porn devs cant make a sandbox gameplay loop that is satisfying to play between sex scenes.

I'd have to agree, there's been very few that actually have a good loop, even then its still a loop instead of loads of stuff, so at times it can still feel like a multi-ending VN.

I prefer visual novels because I love to read and sandboxes are too grindy although, I really don't mind playing them every once in a while when I have the time same with RPG's.

I avoid sandbox. Occasional elements don't bother me, but Man of the House put me off of full-on sandbox for good.

I need a good story to follow. Not a loosely cobble up scenes in a sandbox.

Visual Novel team here.

Hot dang the number of the people who prefer VN over sandbox. I know there isn't many good sandbox games, but gameplay wise they just don't hold much over tons of reading
