VN Ren'Py So Much to Love [0.3.4b] [ALDOR]

This developer is on Patreon and SS. I don't like that they waved the white flag when things got a little tough. But you should be mature and post the links to the support pages. If Aldor doesn't post here anymore, ok. But treating Aldor as some undeserving outcast isn't right. And no, I'm not a supporter. I just think the "Not-Aldor" and "doesn't want any support" looks childish.

we love you @el taco
but i do not agree, ketzal / aldor fucked everyone by rolling over and showing their balls to the white knights
huge fail, as soon as someone bitches about looking too young he's gonna roll over again.

may as well invest in tissues & come out ahead
It's easy for people to say he just caved when "things got a little tough" when you are not him and you don't know what it is he dealt with that made him have to rebrand. Maybe it's opinions such as that that become part of the reason why he wants nothing to do with this site anymore.

Opinions are like asses everyone has them and they all stink. Some more than others.

If some people are too butthurt and upset that they don't want to support him that's fine. But for the love of god don't just say things that you wanna act is reality and truth just because you disagree with his decision.

there are other devs that just go dark for months & wait out the "western memory ability" than just start up again with a "sorry, had to do what i had to do"

other devs that have made the news just simply waited out.

Ok well not all devs' situations are the same. Just because one or some do something a certain way doesn't mean that's the universal standard for what all of them should do if they are under attack. Some don't have the luxury of "going dark" if making games is how they make their living, and if they're livelihood is attacked then a change is probably a solution.

As I said you can dislike or disagree with the choice, but that doesn't mean it was the wrong choice.

I work in exactly the same genre as this dev used to. I was until recently working on a game that is relatively popular. If you search the site, you can find it. I was disappointed in Ketzal's decision to abandon the genre. I expressed my opinion here: Post in thread 'SUCH A SHARP PAIN [V0.11.7R] [KETZAL]' https://lewdcorner.com/threads/such-a-sharp-pain-v0-11-7r-ketzal.35/post-896026.

Ketzal deserves respect for the work he has contributed. I heard that he had a meltdown here when some people criticized him. Some suggested that his new work is inferior. Under the circumstances, it's understandable that he flipped out. Ketzal didn't want to abandon SSP. He felt financially obliged.

The thing is, that decision while legitimate is still demotivating for other creators who continue to hold the line against the flood of irrational normie outrage about 3d. Ketzal could have announced that they were moving to a new name and genre for financial reasons, but would continue SSP at a slower pace and for free. A signal of resistance.

It is what it is. I wish the dev all the best whatever they do, I am working in this genre still, and I'm glad to say that I have friends that are doing the same.

As always, I encourage everyone to explore their creative impulses. Write a story. Learn to render. Use ai(I prefer manually created 3d but everyone has their own taste). It's fun to create. Follow your passion.

There is a point at which it becomes impossible to fight the System and no matter how much passion one has, it's simply not enough when running out of energy trying to do so.
Facing multiple walls trying to stop you will take a toll on you, more so emotionally and even psychologically and that happend to him.

It depends also on expectations. System resistance needs to be accepted as a given. Especially, in this genre. You don't need to be bitter about it. See it as a sort of running cost. You organize accordingly. Contingencies are made for certain failure modes. I wish the social context was more relaxed. From payment processors to political groups. But history is full of moral outrage that is itself morally bankrupt. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

That aside, Ketzal showed extreme dedication. They went so far as to change countries. But location is only part of the equation for project resiliency. And at a certain point it no longer primarily depends on the creator. When payment becomes too arduous for the majority of supporters, best plans can ultimately fail. The well of people willing to repeatedly jump through hoops to maintain support is small.

It's easy for you to say and i disagree, nontheless i'm not digging deeper into it as it derailed from the main topic already which is the Game but this i will say, if there will be a Scenario similiar to Ketzal happening to you then i'm curious what you will do.

Honestly man, it's just gonna be impossible for anyone other than him to understand his decision. You see it as demotivating for others but again, that doesn't mean it was the wrong choice. Fighting the system is not some easy, daily task that devs should have to deal with. At a certain point, they should want to just work on their games without fear of having it all taken away in an instant.

So if you are working on something in that genre, kudos to you, more power to you. What you and others think he could have or should have done doesn't matter long term. Everyone makes the best decisions for themselves. It was his determination that it was no longer feasbile to go down that path.

On the game section i see updated today but on the thread overview its says updated in february? is this a new version or a false positive on the games section?

The doesn't want support has been subjectively placed on this thread. It's not indicative of how the dev actually feels.
