Siren Song Progress Report - 10/15/26
Hey Everyone!
Time for your bi-weekly(ish) update!
(Or is it semi-weekly? I still don't know.)
Time for your fortnightly(ish) update!
So, the last couple of weeks have been a bit of a paradox: I thought I wasn't getting anything done, but then a bunch of stuff sort of fell into place all at once.
If you're detecting a pattern here, you're not alone. It seems to go like this:
- Jonesy gets super excited to move on to the next project
- Does a bunch of development (writing, rendering, coding)
- Discovers he's still in the previous project's headspace
- Realizes he hates a lot of what he's done and where it's headed
- Finds the voice of the project at hand
- Reworks most of the story he had initially created
Well, unfortunately, it happened again. I know! It sucks!
The good news is that 90%+ of the renders I did can still be used. Also, now that I've reworked it, the chapter feels more like part of Siren Song than just an arbitrary itinerary of scenes.
I do need to add a little here and there to what I already had, but that's not a bad thing.
As it stands, this is what I have completed for chapter 4:
- Writing - 85%
- Rendering - 20%
- Coding - 35%
- Music development - 65%
So, all that to say, while this chapter will be fun and sexy, it's more of a setup for the action that will come in Chapter 5. The caveat is that now that this is my only project, expect the wait between Chapters 4 and 5 to be a lot shorter than between Chapters 3 and 4.
On another note, I'm starting yet ANOTHER new job on Monday. The last one was not a good fit. This one is back in my wheelhouse, doing a lot of CAD work - my favorite! It should make me much happier, which is good, because I think we've all learned that when Jonesy is unhappy, he tends to make his characters unhappy, and no one wants to see Charlotte or Willow unhappy! (Which is what was wrong with the original pass!)
Anyway, as it always is with new jobs, we will see how it affects the development schedule. I'll be back in a couple of weeks to let you know how it's going. Wish me luck!
Love Y'all,
~ Jonesy
PS: In the meantime, check out this sneak peek at one of the bands that will be performing at the Sharkbite Twisted Tour! Meet Pretty Metal, the Jonesyverse's first (and only) kawaii metal band. They mix fast and furious thrash metal with J-pop, and they are obsessed with candy.
Would you join their "Sweet Teeth" fan club?
From L to R: Pretty Witty (the joker/screamer), Pretty Giddy (the excited one/leader/singer), and Pretty Bitty (the youngest/screamer)
