discussion Should incest games have more look-alike characters in the same family?

I think sharing some features like hair color/eye color etc. is pretty necessary. But if it's lazily done in a cookie cutter fashion I would rather everyone looks completely different.

Variety is always preferred but kept in the realm of possible. It does look super weird when the mother and daughter look like twins though

If anyone's looking for a game where the family members look similar, I just started Ren'PyDAZFamily Vacation [Ch 9] [MCK] and was pleasantly surprised by the family resemblance of the characters.

Looking-a-like shouldn't really matter as long as one parent has enough similarities to be believable

I like to see some sort of level of family resemblance, but I get pretty bugged when all the women in the family are essentially the same except for their hair and clothing style (sometimes that is even the same). And resemblance does not mean they look alike (unless they're twins ). I get that that is challenging and I don't have a problem when they don't look alike. But, I like the effort and I think it pays off well. A great example of this is No More Money. Mom, daughter, and aunt look different, but definitely hit home as related.

I agree with most in the thread. Similarity, not symmetry, is the goal here. Maybe throw in the odd aunt or cousin that's wildly different

I don't really think it's necessary, but it is something I like to see. It's not really so odd for blood relatives to look nothing alike. Except for hair and eye color, my family don't really share much in common looks-wise, so similar appearances aren't really something I associate with familial relationships.

While I think it would be nice to have the characters look similar as it would increase immersion. I also enjoy the variety of the LI's though I think too much variety does kind of break immersion too much, but at the same time not enough for me not to play it.

I guess it's just to increase variety in the game, and not to bore the player. So I kindof prefer them to be rather different.

Yeah, it helps cementing the whole concept while playing. having characters with like, two separate hair colours for example, makes it feel really disconnected

In my personal mind, I would love to see if the family is more look-alike, this is deepening the immersion of an story.
But on the oterh hand, a creator must look for the needed efford to do so... I have no idea how much money is used to get character models or stuf in the pictures... So, i can imagine, that it is sometimes simple a matter of needed money to spend.

For me, warlocks and boobs have a good amount of “look-alike” character (especially thanks to the green hair)
and honestly, it's really adds value to the game.
