⚠️ Server / Site Update ⚠️
What happened, what you might notice, and what’s changing

✅ What happened
So long story short: I can’t tell you with 100% certainty exactly why the server decided to self-destruct, but the core problem was that `/boot` was missing.

🧠 What does that mean?
On Linux, `/boot` contains critical files required for the operating system to boot properly.
If `/boot` is missing or corrupted, the OS can’t start correctly, which makes the server unstable or unusable, and that cascades into the site breaking.

❓ Why did it happen?
I don’t have a confirmed answer yet, but here are the realistic possibilities:
  • Traffic overload: The spike in traffic coming from ATF (AllTheFallen) may have pushed the server beyond what it could handle.
  • System-side failure: Something happened on the OS or disk side that caused `/boot` to get wiped or corrupted.
What I don’t believe: that I manually deleted it. That would be insanely reckless, and I’m not messing with anything that would randomly nuke the OS for no reason.

🧱 What’s happening right now
I’m currently rebuilding and restoring site content:
  • Threads
  • Posts
  • Attachments
Important: If you notice attachments missing or links temporarily broken, this is why. Things may look incomplete while everything is being reconstructed and synced back into place.

🏦 Shop / Bank temporarily disabled
While the rebuild is ongoing, I had to disable the Shop/Bank because there’s a bug in the code that needs to be fixed.

🎯 New donation goals
I’m adding two donation goals so it’s clear exactly where support is going:
  1. Sysadmin support goal: This goes straight to @Apollo for handling the rebuild work and keeping everything alive behind the scenes.
  2. Hardware upgrade goal: This goes toward a new higher-performance server with a better CPU and more storage so we’re not running on the edge when traffic spikes.

🖼️ Future upgrade: Media Menu
Once the new server is in place, I’ll be adding a Media Menu similar to ATF, a dedicated section to browse media and make it easier for users to add to it (instead of everything being scattered).

I’ll keep everyone posted as the rebuild finishes and features come back online.
Thanks for your patience while I get everything stable ag

Good luck!
strange though, that doesn't really happen out of nowhere, and a larger number of users alone isn't really a trigger
other than hardware failure, it sounds somebody did this on purpose

Glad LC back. I never thought I would miss a community.
Agreed. I figured an intentional shut down would have had an announcement, but I've already settled into a daily routine interacting here and missing it.

Thank you for the information and for the continued hard work, staff. Much respect.

Running a web-based community is not as simple as people often think (including me, sometimes) and there's a reason I'd rather join someone else's forum or message board than run one of my own. Looks like you guys got this figured out and you got a plan moving forward. Glad to see it. I can only hope this helps everyone in charge think about how to better pre-empt or prevent similar issues as well. (Of course, problems will happen... nothing to do but deal with them one by one; but reducing their number would be good, yeah?)

Oké , i'll probably get shot for this but.....
Since the first big fuck-up couple of months ago a great personal change has occurred.
No more new +Games or REAL!!!! updates to any of them appeared.
Not being developed anymore due to justitional threats.
So tell me , without the +section what's the added value of LC?
Just to rant about Fuck95?

Hopefully that won't happen

Games are not being developed because most game devs are cowardly ass beta males who are afraid to develop loli games enough as it is. The lesser amount of loli games is not the fault of LC. Part of the blame is by lolicons themselves for not fighting against censorship, another is that they don't really support lolicon games well enough to keep them funded.

It's easy for people to complain about the lack of games, when they could easily request more games or least help bring in more Game+ games instead of just being entitled for free stuff while they complain about shit.
