With the recent talk on viruses, I'm feeling a little paranoid. I usually play Renpy games on android in Samsung's secure folder, how safe are APKs in general? Feels like it must be at least safer than windows, though can never be too safe imo.

How many people even play on android around here?

Usually, Android ports are not from the devs. So, yeah better be careful.

If you're really worried maybe get Joiplay and download the PC versions of games instead. Even if they were infected whatever is on them would be looking to infect a Windows PC instead of an Android.

I play exclusively on Android too. When needed, doing it with Joiplay make me feel safer

i play from android too, from ASUS Zenfone.
so far there have been no problems.
I don't know if it was downloaded from another website.

I mean, not to be too full of myself, but I've ported hundreds of games with thousands of updates and I have millions of downloads over years of doing Android ports. A game dev is one guy that does one game, with a handfull of releases. I am much more downloaded than just about any game developer. So IMO, I'm pretty safe.

I'm not a fan of Android ports. I'm so paranoid I play RenPy games on a VM without any internet connection, let alone on a device with integrated camera/mic.

I feel that android apps are more secure than windows apps.
