Do you happen to reduce/compress games? If so, can you drop information below how to reduce the size of a game.

No, so no.

There are tools that do the job almost alone. However, i never used them myself, sorry.

Unless a pre-compressed version is already available, I didn't even know there was a way to make it smaller on your own. I feel like it'd impact the quality too much

I consider it pointless. The only reason for compressed games is not enough diskspace to download the full size. Except for completed games i only keep the save folder between updates ^^

It's not just compressing, but a developer should know how to properly save images, using the right image format. Most AVN developers seem to ignore the basics of information technology and design. PNG is not the right format to distribute photographic renderings. Just use Jpeg or Webp, also if saved as uncompressed with full quality they are still smaller than PNG. For doing many Jpegs at once (with mozjpeg encoder, that is the most efficient) you can use also online services like kraken.io. Or you can use Xnview for converting to Jpeg (but without using mozjpeg) or Webp.

It seems absurd to me to see all these incompetence among developers and wasted space for players. Obviously, many skilled developers know how to properly save images.

Yeah, even if you don't compress your game, you should avoid using PNGs. You can use lossless WEBP instead.

No, I don't see the point of it. On a UHD monitor the degradation of render quality is too noticeable. And taking into account that I delete 95% of games and VN after playing them, there is no problem with free space on the storage media.

Nope, prefer higher quality and don't game on a phone. It would be too small to see that way anyway.

You can reduce image file size by converting .png to .webp, by using something like .

You can also compress the image by using "YAC - Yet Another Cruncher" (just google it and you'll find it)

If what you want is a smaller game for transferring, just break the game into parts (separate graphics from data files)

If you are running out of hard drive space, just buy another hard drive (or get from a computer someone throws away)
