Ratings and reviews were useful for the games section because they helped decide whether it was worth trying or not. And some were interesting to read on their own.
Now I don't see them.
Is this a bug?

yeah the addon for reviews broke, i will be looking for other options.

Consider saving the old ones; in theory, it shouldn't be difficult for a programmer to import them from the old database into the new one.

it would be hard cause this rating addon does not allow commenting, i mentioned to add comments to a future update to the addon but only time will tell.

Is it important to allow comments on Reviews? I can imagine people commenting on Reviews to complain about it just because they have a different opinion and want to argue.

Also, I have seen several Forums with a comment function and all of those ended up being a huge mess.
Threads are pretty straightforward, everything new will show up at the end, but comments will bring chaos into it. Suddenly any thread can have new content right in the middle of it and users would need to check the entire thread over and over again to not miss stuff.
Imagine someone talking about an issue and the solution is in a comment to that specific post, nobody will see that comment, because they will only see the latest post.
Besides that, notifications and alerts are always bugged with comments.

I'm not sure I got it right. Commenting on someone else's review? Yeah. Totally. That's just to fight. I agree with ErzuzB.
A reviewer being ABLE to describe their review? That's probably important, especially if the reviewer is biased.

Ex: My bias. I often say IDGAF about graphics, it's 2019 era pictures, no animations, basic backgrounds. I love the rest of it. 5 Star. (old man eyes, man, old man eyes).
BUT, some might WANT to know that the "5 star" game is some horrible visuals that you'd never want to touch with a 10 foot pole.

Right now, unless I missed it, I can't write text next the Star. I hope that's what people are talking about. Hey, I'm still French, old, and autistic, heh...

It seems that writing actual reviews is not possible at the moment, all you can do is rate a thread. Which yes, is suboptimal, because as you said, without knowing why a game gets such a rating it's of not much worth.

There need to be installed a new review plugin for that (the old one is outdated after all), but I guess it's currently not very high on the to-do list or costs to much money at the moment.

I think ratings should be a higher priority if the focus is going back to games. I mean ratings are probably a third of the engagement on most game sites.
