discussion Polygamy Question: Why aren't there any or more VN games about Polygamy?

Because games are fantasy. And many, in one way or another, fantasized about the theme of a Harem or several partners, etc.
So most people come just for this fantasy and play harem games, just downloaded it, corrupted as many characters as possible and that’s it.

But by the way, there are games where there is polygamy, I’ve definitely come across several and played a few, but I don’t even remember the names of the games I played recently, so I can’t say.

Does it even have a tag? Besides, harem, I mean.

If its possible to sexualize "my little pony," put male members on women, urinate on another person as a sex act, and use them as the base of a game/VN, then why isn't the very alpha male act of courting, marrying, and managing/protecting multiple wives more popular in these type of games?

Do you think it is because marriage is not very erotic?

And/or is polygamy stigmatized due to religion and so it's not considered a fetish?

So, now we are aroused by the idea of a harem-- having sex with a group of committed but unmarried women--and find it erotic, yet as soon as we add the idea of marriage to them it stops being porn?

I think there are some interesting stories that could be told in a VN/game, but maybe I am too weird even for a site like this! Ha!

Harem doesn't stop at marriage... If you marry all the women in your harem its still harem...

Asking for Polygamy is basically asking to open the doors to additional males in a standard male MC game...
At that point most Polygamy games become some form of NTR...
Since Netorase is generally seen as open/willing sharing

Don't get me wrong, I just think that 'Polygamy' is the wrong word choice since its a bit of a vague term... Any marriage involving multiple partners qualifies as polygamy.

So, for Tags what you're looking for is for a Marriage Tag, combined... with a Harem Tag...
Which as I type this I immediately realize that even if it had both of these Tags it won't necessarily mean you're Marrying your Harem, just that Marriage is involved at some point in the game....
Let's be honest, probably in some type of Netori thing...

The only difference between polygamy and harem is a ring and ceremony for each new member. I don't really see a point.

Marriage is an outdated concept.
We dont need to fuse possessions/names/countries in the name of peace/greed anymore.
We dont need to force opinions/traditions/religions in our sexlife.
Aside from that, most real polys are pretty open about sex with others, so why take a ring and limit yourself? And if you dont intend to limit yourself, whats the ring for?

A few "harem" games can finish in stable polygamous relationships. However almost no adult game depicts stable relationships of any kind, monogamous or polyamory (unless it is vignetes of "open" relationships), since they are assumed to be boring, uneventful (and therefore lack the appeal for most users). Its about the journey, not the destination.

Have you tried Reunion? MC starts in a poly relationship with two women and then tries to convince the others to join in, to which they initially react with the kind of horror you'd expect from such a wild proposal.

As for why harem and not polygamy, my personal guess is that it's easier to write and justify, and when you're really in it for the sex, you don't need to over complicate it with marriage and legalese and all that stuff, when the story's far more likely to end long before that.

It's for legal reasons friend, there are several harem games where you marry several characters but as a rule they are fantasy or science fiction games, evenicle for example whose plot revolves around the protagonist who wants to marry several women, but to do so he has to upload of rank so that he is allowed to have more wives each time. Now the ones that are based on reality without elements of fantasy like that would be unreal as such unless you pick up a strange religion or something like that.

Why marry them? For the most part I think it's easier to just bring in, and out, girls for the mc to fuck. Adding marriage doesn't really add anything to that

I think "Harem" is multiple partners without marriage, whereas polygamy is many wives.

I think it's the taboo aspect. I guess polygamy can be taboo as well, but not as much as having a harem
