I always turn blood on if there's an option, it makes it feel like a bigger deal when there's a consequence for the act. Thinking about it, that's probably why impregnation is one of my favorite underserved kinks, which is why I hate it when I'm forced to pull out, use a condom, or there's talk about birth control.

Most games/VN's don't make it a big deal taken/losing virginity.
They should take it more "seriously" with blood and all that comes with losing/taken a girls virginty.

Im gonna give my 3 cents aswell.

The second option is definitely the best one. It’s there—if you want it, you can have it—but if you don’t like it or aren’t interested, you can choose to leave it out of your game, and that’s absolutely wonderful. Giving players options to customize their experience to their personal tastes is always a good thing.

As usual Red and i agree on something but i would also add that not every character that is supposed to be a virgin should have blood when penetrated for the first time because what if said person's Hymen ripped long before that point in time. That should always be thought of as it is possible for that to happen in certain situations (sport, whoring, masturbating, etc. etc.). So maybe a sporty gal already had it broken but an absolute shut-in might not.

I honestly don't care whether the LIs are virgin or not. But if you focus on virginity in the story, then either you have to show the blood or you should explain why there is not one. If it's an optional, then option should not be blood is there or not but a small scene explaining why there is no blood, then action without blood.

I feel like the general rule of thumb when it comes to things like this, is to add it and then give the option to the player at the end of the day. Obviously, certain things will take a lot of effort to implement multiple versions of (perhaps like separate scenes based on the outfit you choose), but when possible, the more options the player has, the better.

I guess it really depends on the game. If it's a hyper-realistic romance story, then fine, I guess. It's not my thing, but I would not mind it. If it's more like some animalistic, "Look, blood from my taking of her," thing, then I get the yuck.
