If you get the groove of speaking in abbreviations, It's just habit I'm sorry.

Before using abbreviations, you should provide the explanation keys

The only problem I have is when a new one pops up and I have no idea what it means.

This thread is absolute needed cause some the i looking for game and the reponses are all abbreviations !!

Thank god someone said this. As a newbie in this field of entertenmaint I’m often wondering what games are mentioned.

Come one people.
Like the topic says : No more abbreviations for game titles
If you do, you know you are either gonna be asked what it stands for or nobody replies because we don't wanna go on a holy quest to figure it out.
So no more shit like: osil hsoa fin tdp pf tg tgif dmd CL <--- Specially for RIC0H ;)
Not everybody is a prev game name connoisseur.
Specially when people ask for recommendations of games to play and you guys just seem to throw out random abbreviations ( It does make me laugh but still )

So please for all that is perverted,,, just stop.
NOYL, IMO that just sounds like PEBCAK.

I agree. I had one of my downloads fail and I closed the thread a long time ago. Now all I've got is a busted zip with an abbreviated game title. FUUUUUUUUUU

There's a simple solution to figuring out what game is being referred to by an abbreviation: just ask.

so looking at the OP's list... i kinda gotta agree. ive not been here long enough to learn all the names of the games but i dont recognize any of those.

Lol I feel ya. I once worked at a company that handed me a list of abbreviations and acronyms as part of my onboarding docs ;-;

Sometimes while I read twitter I think that people aren't even speaking english anymore, it's crazy the amount of dumb shit they say, legit can't understand what they're saying

a cartoon character is holding a newspaper that says old man yells at cloud

Like Tosser said, you can ask...
Or simply use the abbreviation in the search bar... it's super easy.

I can see both sides of the argument, in other forums I used to put the full title once and then start using the abbreviation. A little effort goes a long way.

Wouldn't it be better to make it easy to link to a game page by just typing some code with a prefix, like $tg or &tg, similarly to @ for users. That could trigger a search and have the forum system automatically provide the full name and link?
This could be automated by providing an auto-complete style popup with the search results of all games that match that abbreviation, or automatically pick it if there is only one match.

It would have the following benefits:
  • For posters, it's almost as fast as just typing the game abbreviation, while providing verification that the title is correct.
  • For readers, it provides a direct link to go check out the game, making the forum more enjoyable to visit.
  • To obfuscate Games+ content, links to Game+ pages could automatically be redacted when displayed to visitors that do not have Game+ access, making it impossible to know which game the others are talking about, and preventing them from grabbing information to report to hosting company.
