It's a bad day, after the update was leaked on this site, to write (or read, in my case) an asshole-ish review, @LUVGAMZ23 , so perhaps I'm overreacting.
Disclaimer: I don't care about the review scores. I use them as feedback. When they make sense.

a.- You remove one star (among other things) because URM doesn't work AS YOU WANT IT TO WORK:
1.- URM is a third-party software. Complain to them, not to me.
2.- URM works as intended. If YOU don't know how to use it, My Dorm isn't to blame. A little hint: The pop-up "every other picture" isn't because of language selection.
3.- You can also remove another star, for all that I care, because My Dorm doesn't work on iPhone, a Nokia 3310, or a coffee machine. Blame the iPhone, the Nokia, or the coffee machine.

b.- Have you seen the enemy soldiers shoot at anything (besides a single time, where a cooking pot was in the middle)? They missed a SINGLE time.

c.- Why put the clones in the story? Read and find out. My Dorm isn't written for 6-year-old players who need everything explained in the next five minutes after a plot point is shown.

d.- The only label the MC has ever complained about is the "boyfriend/girlfriend". Perhaps he isn't 14 y.o. and doesn't need them. Never complained about "I love you", he even says it too much.

You can go to your review and remove two more stars if you want because the game is called My Dorm, because it has graphics, or because of any other nonsense you could think.

I'm autistic, French and a nihilist. I don't actually speak like most people. BUT, to show good will, normally, I'd escalate, but obviously, I really like the game and the tone of the review didn't work:

I wrote "Well, it’s 5 if the things below don’t bother you.". It is a 5 Star Game for most people.
Don't like the MC looks. That's a me problem. As for the other star:

A-I'm here to inform mod lovers about problems using it. It's not the devs fault, but I personally avoid anti-mod or hard to mod games (not naming them so as to not draw THEIR devs here). That's all I meant. Side bar = if it's not the 5 languages, what is the "p" variable that have the options d, h, v, f, and nothing. If it's proprietary, ignore the question.

B-I AM an asshole... that wants villains to win. I hate it what "miraculously" everyone survives. It's personal preference but I would have like 1-3 characters dying in the attack. In AVN, it's "hands off" love interest, I know, I get it. But 2-3 male friends doomed to die in that attack would have been cool in my psychotic little brain.

C-I guess I'm 6 years old then. I've stopped reading books for 25 years because of the subtext shit. To writers everywhere, on PLANET EARTH, TELL me what's going on. MY 6 YEAR OLD BRAIN DOES NOT UNDERSTAND. Calling someone stupid doesn't make them smart. The brain is an organ that doesn't see much use in people like me.

D-I'll stand corrected. I would have sworn he said the same thing about policies, laws, lawyers, etc... Probably in my head.

Finally, yeah, I'm full of nonsense. A review like I did isn't a good look for me. But reacting to any bit of negative text MAY not be a good look for you. I'm a negative person. I don't like "positive only" people. I go in fix it mode, no need to thank. Why? I'm an asshole-ish person and yet I even wrote in the in the final line "What the game does good, it's actually great" or the like. People only complain, instead of deleting the game, because they care about the product and want it changed just a little bit to make it fit perfectly. But sometimes, people like me forget to say "Thank you for your hard work for this game."

So...

Spaniard here, so perhaps the language barrier between us is even greater, with both talking in a language that isn't our first.
A.- It's not anti-mod. It's a different way to code. The variables can be found, for example for Martha (MC's mother, if you play with the patch and renamed her) you can find her variables here:

The p variable is a parameter I use to tell Ren'py which transition should be used when displaying someone blinking: dissolve, hpunch, vpunch, or fade. Since URM sees an "if" it thinks there are several paths and thus shows a pop-up.
The blinking code is mine, but it's available to anyone who wants to use it in the file BlinkXP.rpy

B.- There aren't any male friends for them to die in that scene (and if Jamaal was there, he would have survived because I love him), and killing one of the five women there (four of which haven't had the chance at the moment of starting a relationship with the MC) didn't look like a good idea. My Dorm is a lighthearted best-case-scenario game. It has its share of drama in some of the women's paths, but it's a "feel good" game.

C.- I wasn't calling you stupid or saying you are a 6 y.o., but My Dorm plays A LOT with characters not having all the information, especially early on, and making uninformed choices. For them to not have all the information, the player should lack some of it too, that will be disclosed at the correct time. Two examples: Everyone thinks Edmund (MC's father) cheated on Martha. It's disclosed that he didn't after the first time the MC and her had sex. Same with Scarlett "possibly" being MC's half-sister.

As I said, perhaps I overreacted to your review because all the shit that happened in the last two days. If you felt attacked, sorry for it.

Yup. French is also a more emotional language. We've got an advantage at romance, but also we get way over the top with arguments, by, say, making a possible hostile sounding review by using way too harsh language towards a hard working person that actually nicely engages the pirate sites... as a completely random example...

A-Thank you for the explanations. For the biggest one, I was hoping that there was a way to find and isolate "p". I did a search. Went through all 60 pages at 20 variables a page... didn't find it. I just want to Remember It. Then Ignore It, so that it doesn't pop up every scene as a Branching Point. Not your problem, but if it's an easy "YEAH, just click this." that'd be great. To be fair, it's more of an annoyance than an actual problem.

B-Yeah... don't kill Jamaal. I'm sorry. It's your game. I meant... PLEASE don't kill Jamaal, heh. I like him too. I wish there'd been "act 2 tragic deaths" characters that were set up since the beginning, but there wasn't. No big deal. I agree with your don't kill a Love Interest policy. One game that I played did kill a LI. There were... REACTIONS.

C-I get it. Np. But I am kind of (literally) on the dim end of intelligence spectrum, pun intended. I have good vocabulary (if I do say so myself)... but comprehension isn't a thing. (It took me 3 tries to go from Thumbs up to Heart in the response to your post). I also get the "hidden truth" aspect of many stories.

And hey, no biggie on your reaction. In counter, I'm sorry I didn't say "Hey. Day 1 piracy. That sucks. People should wait 2 weeks so that the dev can... you know... eat." Sorry you don't get a good subscriber window. I should have said that rather than nitpick.

Anyhow, as far as I'm concerned it's all good now. Good luck on the game, both creatively and financially.

IMHO killing LIs is a cardinal sin in AVNs.
And I have to ask... Acting Lessons? Because that game is prime example of what NOT to do.

I gave it a spin and thought of them as the real princesses in that castle, doll-sized and surrounded by toys. There's even a toy that shouldn't be there. The owner of the dolls heard her mother talking about "her toys". Adding the girl's hand gave it the last spin to the render.

Special Render 57 - Kiara - Free Edition​

Well, everyone has had the chance to play the update now, so I'm here with a special render for today, April 23rd, Book day, St. George day, and Rose day (at least in Catalonia).

If you haven't heard about it, there's a legend about St. George that says that, when he slain the dragon, a rose grew from the first drop of dragon blood that touched the ground. Don't ask me about other saints' legends. It's almost the only one I know about.

April 23rd it's also International Book Day (Cervantes and Shakespeare died on April 23rd, 1616, even if, because of differences in the calendar adoption, it looks like they didn't die on the same day, some historians giving as Cervantes's death date the 22nd). So having our beautiful librarian in the render looked fitting.

She's also there because, as you know, she felt like Solomon was her personal dragon, and after the last update, she feels like she is free from him.

And mixing all that, we have a Lady Godiva-esque Kiara, slaying the dragon that imprisoned her for so long, on St. George Day, and instead of a single rose growing, it's a pile of books and some roses.

Yes, I know, I went crazy with all the symbolism.

Back to work, the update won't write by itself.
