I mean its a porn game keep it simple. If you're going to try to tell an actually story you need to put some effort into making it a good story and not something as half assed as this.

Taking into account that the plot point is only there (until now) to introduce two girls with different backgrounds and to justify the patch/non-patch playstyle, I think it serves its purpose.
Without it, having someone with the personality of Eva and Amanda would be implausible, and perhaps I should have gone the landlady/roommate shit route for the unpatched version.

Only for those two reasons, that plot point is needed.

Been following this one for a while and enjoy it, my only real dislike thus far is the D&D portions of the game and having to figure out the incest patch for each new season. Wish they could come up with a way to just enable/disable in the options for each season. I will continue following this one as it is overall enjoyable.

The DnD part took less than an update and won't return to it.
Doing what you ask for the patch would contravene Patreon ToS and I would get banned from there, so it won't happen.

Thanks, but it wouldn't be possible. Say the MC is 4 years older:
If he's older, why hasn't he returned home before?
In the patched version, Martha gave birth to the MC when she was 19. Making him older and the girls the same age would mean she was 14-15 when she got pregnant.
And making her and Norah older would mean that Meemaw (who gave birth to Norah when she was 21, and that's non-negotiable) should be aged too... And Betty too, since it's important for the story that the age gap between her and Meemaw is kept at 2 years.
Eileen should be older, too, since she and the MC are the same age (and perhaps that would force Kiara to be older). That means Jamaal is older too, and that would affect Samantha's age (and surely Simone's).
And what happens with Saira and Megan? He met them at college, but if the MC was four years older, he wouldn't have coincided with them at college.
Having girls like Alexia and Maddie older than the MC is good for the story too.

You would be surprised by how many people had tried that and then complained that they didn't understand anything.

I think I designed the ages too tight. Everyone except Norah and Kiara gave birth too early (Martha 19, Samantha 20, and Olivia 21). Changing anyone's age (except making some of the younger girls a bit older) would be impossible.
I'm always available to explain every design decision (if it doesn't mean a big spoiler). I don't think I know more about AVNs than players who have played hundreds of them. I played a very short number (12-14), and I started My Dorm trying to do something I didn't find in those I played. My Dorm is the game I would have liked to play when I discovered the AVN world. A game focused on wholesomeness and sincerity between the characters, showing a harem can be built without needing to hide it and make the MC look like a cheater. Obviously, being my first project, the execution is a bit rough around the edges in the first chapters. The game has grown more than I thought initially, and I (think that I) also have grown and learned a lot as a developer.
Not everything in My Dorm is for everyone, and I have known it since the day I started doing it, but it's still the game that fits my tastes the most (taking into account that I haven't played any game since I started developing this, so my pool to compare is very small).

I have played the entire first part and half of the 2nd part and I can say that it is very interesting how the dialogues of the story change if you choose one or several girls, the dynamic is very fun, although some say it is simple, it is something that achieves its objective which is entertaining.

Sometimes things get out of hand, and I commit mistakes with it, but it's a lot of fun thinking about how Emma would react, f.e., if she was the only member of the core family who ends up not being with the MC. Those different paths should be taken into account when designing a dialogue.
