Latest Updates (LU) Fix + Forced Thread Options Update

This forced thread is to let everyone know the Latest Updates (LU) system should be fixed.

If you’ve noticed anything weird lately (missing updates, incorrect “updated” tags, layout issues, etc.), that’s why. It’s actively being worked on.

Forced Threads / Ignore Options Update

I also made a quiet change to how forced threads work.

  • If you previously bought BugMeNot or Silent-Corner from the shop, you should still have it.
  • If you don’t see it anymore, contact me and I’ll fix it.

New Item: 100% Forced Thread Immunity

There is now a new option that will completely ignore all future forced threads, period.

Once enabled:
  • Forced threads will not pop up for you.
  • Even if I try to force one, it won’t force you. I made sure it can’t.

Enable / Buy Here

If you already own BugMeNot / Silent-Corner (or the new option), manage the setting here:
Forced thread options

If you don’t have it and want it:
Usergroup Change

Price: $10 lifetime (no monthly, no renewals).

That’s it. LU is being handled, and forced thread controls are now stronger and cleaner.

ps. sorry it took me awhile to fix the forced threads to have an ignore option, it is something i coded in myself not what the original forced thread addon has.

gets reneged will buyers be refunded?

Personally I won't be funding for obvious reasons

nope with it like this there is no way i could even force an update for users with the item enabled even if i somehow reverted the changes, this is core level changes.

Could the core not simply be reversed or otherwise altered later?

Could the core not simply be reversed or otherwise altered later?
not easily, it would involve database and sql stuff and i am not expirenced enough to touch the database without fucking something up and yeah im not risking it knowing my luck, so this change is staying.

Who implemented the new core change?

The site is a mess, it gets fixed one day, and it's a complete disaster the next. All the updates are mixed up, normal games appear in the Games+ section and vice versa. It's one of the most disorganized and chaotic sites I've seen lately. They force threads to announce that they've fixed it, but a day or two later it's a mess again.
I suggest that you fix it and not create forced threads for that purpose, because there's no point in announcing that you've corrected something if it's going to be a mess again soon after.

So the LU page still has things from 10+ days on it, even searching generic games not plus content.

Is that really how few uploaders this place has? Two days ago I asked and it was answered the page was bugged, now its fixed and still showing the same inactivity.

Well honestly the "no forced threads" perk is a bit like the nag screen of WinRAR in the end. Dunno. I mean i get it the site needs funding and all, but this does not feel like the best way to do it. I guess everybody knows the meme with the WinRAR sales team making a party cause the sold one unit after 10 years or so. Just my personal opinion.

A remark: I am not a big fan of this forum system. I mean the upgrade to a new version seemed to be more of a battle with incompatibilities and other quirks, than at least in my world it should be. But well, people voted to go the way and here we are. If was just wondering if there aren't any more robust and more DevOp friendly alternatives. Now we will never know, at least not here.

And while I agree that the site seems chaotic at times, that is probably also what people want. I mean some people here also have signatures and user profile cards on the side of threads, than almost require scrolling only for that. Not to mention searching for the actual text - kind of. It is a bit like those old school forums in the 90s. And maybe that is just part of the identity of LC. Not my thing either - but it does not have to be. And let's not forget why many, if not most are here. LC is one of the last pages that offers stuff that others do not. And some sites as F95, which is passionately hate by quite some members here (wondered why, but also don't wanna wake a sleeping giant, so I WILL NOT ASK). And also while some sites kind of eliminate all talk about some games etc, here you at least get the shit talk threat to vent if you must.

So anyways - even with all that being said. I am happy that this site exists. Sure there is room for enhancement, but there is some people trying. and also some people getting so wrapped up in it and feeling somewhat fighting a lone battle it seems (at least some of the "forced message" made that impression on me around the time of the update and shortly thereafter) So maybe it is also time to say thanks. for instance I think that Apollo and Jack Of Blades put a lot of work in it and it can be seen. And I don't know for sure, but I think that did that without getting paid, so in other words in they free time. At least now latest updates work. And it looks definitely a bit nicer than before. So complaining is easy, I also have some things that I do not like, obviously. But I think saying thank you and also acknowledge that there is good things is just as important.
So this is for the whole work on the updates and also all around that, not only to Apollo and Jack Of Blades, but also Heisenberg and Red99 and all the others I have not yet on my radar or got time to write with.

🤘Thank you🤘

back your facts up.
I take back what I said about games being in the wrong sections; I believe it was a bug on my end, since it's back to normal. But I stand by the rest of the comment, and I'll add that there were some bugs in the games+ section. Some games would appear one day and disappear the next. I'll give two examples that happened this week. Actually, the games+ section...
My only visit to this site is because of the games+ section, and I believe that's true for more than 90% of people too. I don't even waste my time looking at other sections, since I download from other sites much sooner than what appears here.
Going back to the comment, the games+ section is very buggy. Right now, the release order is all wrong (for the thousandth time). This week, two games that I follow (Siblings Delights and Uncanny) were both at the beginning of the week (in release order), then disappeared for a few days, then reappeared, and now they don't even appear again.

Another thing I thought shouldn't happen is that when I search for a game, I usually just type in the initials (I don't speak the language and remembering names is difficult), then a list appears and I look for what I want, so far so good. But when I leave the site, turn off the PC, and the next day (or a few days later) when I go back to the site, only a few games appear on the page, and until I remember that I searched before, I'm lost thinking it's some kind of bug on the site, and when I look, those words are still in the search field, so I have to delete them to see all the games. I think that when we leave the site, this search should reset, just like it does on other sites.

Sorry if I have to disagree with you on some points or correct you.

You've been here for four months, which isn't long when it comes to gaining experience.
The people who complain don't do so because they enjoy it, but because they have a history of suffering that usually spans many years.
You can't possibly know most of the history these people have experienced with LC, and that's not a criticism of you.
Most of the threads and posts dealing with negative criticism and the reasons for it have been deleted.
Some were deleted unintentionally due to necessary backups, but most were deleted intentionally.

Also, you may not know that @Heisenberg and @Jack Of Blades are one and the same person, and those aren't the only usernames he uses / has used.
He is the owner of this website and has unrestricted control over the website's financial income, which he has not always used for the benefit of the site in the past.
So what you declare to be a leisure activity is in reality a paid job.

As for @Apollo, he has also been getting paid for his work for some time now; at least, donations are being collected / requested to cover his expenses.
As for the mods, you're right, they and the uploaders do their work here voluntarily and without pay, and they rarely get the recognition they actually deserve.
But it is also a fact that in the past, many employees and members threw in the towel and turned their backs on the site because of the abuses that prevailed here and, in some cases, still prevail.

But as I said, you can't know that because the sources from which you could gather the missing information about these events no longer exist.
However, there is a statement about this that at least gives hope that this content will be restored.
However, this was made quite some time ago and to date nothing has happened in this regard.
So we continue to wait, who knows for how long.

But over the years, many promises have been made that have not been kept, either because they were impossible to keep or because there was no will to do so.
Only time will tell what the future holds, and @Jack Of Blades will be judged by his actions to improve the situation, not by his words.
We will see if he can achieve his goals.

Some improvements have already been implemented, others announced.
Even though I think it's still a little too early for your “thank you” or words of praise.
But perhaps it could be an incentive to stay on course and not stray from the path again.

The entire staff team is working towards fulfilling said goals and improvements.
the logic for the LU page will finally be corrected and absolute today.
An incredible amount of the teams determination comes from reading a "thank you" message here or simply seeing that people are enjoying the site.
So please feel free to express gratitude and share any complaints or corrections you want done, since improvement would also be impossible without your feedback.

That's what I've done so far, and I'll continue to do so as long as I feel compelled to.

But there's something else:

Without your help, the website wouldn't be nearly as far along as it is now, which is a huge improvement over the last few months.
However, you haven't been around as much lately, and some things, apart from the LU Site, have stalled or been put on hold.
I understand that you have a personal life that takes priority.
But before you fix the slot machines, it would be nice if you could focus on the theme and a few other things, such as restoring the lost content.
And why is the Silent Corner Perk no longer available to everyone, but only to donors?

In the early days, there was a database that stored all users who didn't want to see forced threads.
Then it was said that this had been lost, and something was temporarily put in the shop that could be purchased with AC's.
That sounded like a joke, but it was only introduced to boost the shop's value.
Now something similar is happening, but suddenly it costs real money.

As I said, the old members who are still there remember the escapades they experienced, but the new ones don't.
And that's why they don't understand that there are members who complain and some who are starting to do so who didn't do so before.

We've been going around in circles for years and always end up back where we started, if you know what I mean.
I won't even get started on the donation page.
But it's the same thing.

Thanks for writing that up - I get where you’re coming from, and I’m not taking it as an attack.

Quick updates:

• Donation page is on the upgrade list.
• Slots should already be working - if something’s still broken, tell me what exactly happens and I’ll check it.
• Theme feedback is valid, but I need specifics (what looks wrong / what changed / screenshots if possible).
• Restoring lost content is something I want handled, but it depends on what we can actually recover - examples help a lot.

On the forced thread bypass / Silent Corner perk:
I understand why it feels like “we’re back in the same loop.” The difference now is I’m trying to keep the system sustainable long-term. I’m open to adding an alternate shop item again, but it won’t be a cheap unlock, because it creates ongoing lack of maintenance and support overhead.

Also just to be transparent: aside from the LU work, most of the fixes on LC lately have been done on my end. Apollo’s been a major help, but I’ve been actively keeping things running.

If you can list the theme issues + missing content + stalled features in bullets, I’ll prioritize them and start working through them.
