Some bugs that have been around for a while since "Latest Updates" was declared fixed.

1. "Or" doesn't work correctly. Choosing one tag showed 5 pages. Adding another tag with "OR" selected showed a single page. Sometimes it drops to a single item. OR should increase the number of results, not reduce them.

It doesn't help that the "OR / AND" seems to be a toggle so it's not always apparent which one is actually active. Clicking on "OR" it should just set it to OR, not switch back and forth, to remove any confusion. Right now, with the bug happening, "OR" is lit up white, and "AND" is dark grey, so that does seem to be set correctly, but it still doesn't work correctly.

2. Exclude Prefix/Engine doesn't seem to work, i.e. "x" next to RPGM still shows RPGM games, same with HTML games.
Addendum: Including prefixes with the tick seems to work, so I can at least, say, pick "Ren'py" and "Unity", but obviously I'd rather exclude one or two than have to include a dozen.

3. Date Range slider doesn't seem to work as intended. I've got it set to <90 days but it's showing stuff that was last updated in January. Someone posted elsewhere that they thought maybe it was set to > instead of < but I can't say for sure.
Addendum: Anytime / Today seem to work, while "updated within 3 days" offers 230 pages!

(4.) There's the long-standing issue with the LU bringing in random content from non-game forums, but that one has already been flagged.
Addendum: If you set the top category to "Games" or "Games+" it does filter out a lot of that extraneous stuff which is a workaround, but obviously shouldn't be necessary.

5. Number of results displayed on first page varies widly depending on circumstances.
Addendum: Adding this in here from a post lower down.
  • Latest Updates (no filters or categories set): Results shown: 23.
    • This is an odd and arbitrary number by itself, why 23?
  • Now pick any category or filter, click Filter. Results shown: 20.
  • Add a tag to include/exclude, click Filter. Results shown: 23 again.
  • Add a second tag, click Filter. Results shown 18 (despite number of pages increasing from previous)
In short, any changes you make to the filter will randomly change the number of results displayed on the first page, regardless of the number of actual pages available.

This is using the top tile layout, "Normal" sidebar ("Sticky" doesn't seem to do anything) and "Small (prefix)" version style. I'm using Oasis V2 as it's the only full width theme dark theme I can tolerate, but I tested it in V5-Guz and the result is the same.

nice layout, hopefully the dev reads it, as for (4) yes it shows random threads, but also its suppose to show comics/assets/mods/games/games+.

just to point that out to dev if he reads this.

I'm going to look this issues, abour the Date Range slider just say that's is sorting by the last post i asume the the right way should be sort by last update of the first post

I'm not sure what you mean by that, posts in general have nothing to do with it. The whole point of Latest Update - the fundamental purpose of it, and the single biggest cause of all of the problems we've encountered in the past six months, is that it should sort by the most recently released update to the game, i.e. the "Latest Update" field (hence the name of the entire feature) in the game entry, that's the one that should be used as a metric.

This is what "Date Limit" should be referencing, but clearly isn't, as this game shows up first while using "<30 days" sorted by Date. June 21 was 70 days ago.

That also doesn't mean the last time the first post itself was updated, i.e. if someone edits that post to add an additional download link or some other piece of information, that isn't an update to the game. The "Latest Update" field should be the default metric for Date sorting. The only exception to this is old games that are newly added to LC, those end up appearing at the front of the list simply because they're "new", and I see no issue with that, though I'm a little unclear how that actually happens. I've heard talk of some hidden "thread updated" field somewhere but I'm not sure how that fits in. For me, I want to know when a game is updated, that's it. Not if it's had new genre tags added or a different download source, but an actual update, no matter how minor. And yes, I'd also want to see games newly added to LC even if they haven't been updated in decades. It's a tricky one.

Incidentally, the above behaviour happens whether you click on "Date" or not. It should be sorting by "Date" by default (although the button is kinda misleading, it should be "Date Updated" or similar) when it first opens, but it doesn't make any difference if you click it or not.

P.S. I don't know how game data works on LC, I assumed there was a "game" record somewhere with fields like "Status", "Release Date", "Latest Update" etc, which the forum post just happens to display, but there's this weird overlap between posts about games and the games themselves that I'll admit I don't fully understand. Is that info box in the first post pulling in data from somewhere else, or is that the actual data? Either way it seems to cause endless confusion when sorting and filtering.

That's the ideal but at the end we are limited to the data avaliable in the database, and as far as i know that date is not in the info of the thread, I'm working in a fix that follow the date that shows in the boxes of the threads, i also fixed that bug that shows other forums threads. I'm waiting for confirmation to upload the fix and it should be an improvement

Which is confusing given that Latest Updates used to work just fine, as did the normal thread filter. We've gained the ability to exclude stuff (not that any of that seems to work correctly yet) but the most rudimentary function - the actual "show latest updates" concept the entire thing is named for - still seems to be unpredictable and unreliable. Here's hoping you can fix it.

Not to pile on the issues but all of these seem to be related:

5. Number of results displayed on first page varies widly depending on circumstances.
  • Latest Updates (no filters or categories set): Results shown: 23.
    • This is an odd and arbitrary number by itself, why 23?
  • Now pick any category or filter, click Filter. Results shown: 20.

This is using the top tile layout, "Normal" sidebar ("Sticky" doesn't seem to do anything) and "Small (prefix)" version style. As before I'm using Oasis V2 although it happens in V5 Guz98 too.

On a separate note:

Your "Current Status" thread encourages people to post any issues not listed there within that post. Might I suggest you follow's Heisenberg's suggestion for this part of the site and limit new problems to new threads created within the "Site issues" board? Otherwise your current status thread is likely to end up massive and unwieldy, with multiple overlapping conversations, plus the inevitable complaints and arguments.

It seems to me like you should be the only one who's allowed to reply to or edit the "Current Status" thread. That way, for example, you and I could maintain our feedback and discussion about the specific issues I've reported here in my thread (and only those) without hijacking your main status thread. And once these particular issues are resolved there'll be a self-contained, historical record of the fix and what was involved.

Also, it's "known issues" rather than "know issues"! 🤓👆
