Is art style something you particularly look for in a game?

main thing, don't really invest into 3d games that heavily because most of them look the same(models look the same or might even just be copies)

The quality of the art is one of the most important things. If I don't like how it looks I will most likely not download it

If you are talking about video games in general it depends if the gameplay stands on its own

Graphics play an important but not decisive role. For example, I never download games with Japanese graphics, just like I never deal with HS and HS2.
It's the pixelated graphics that have a repulsive effect. Otherwise, story and gameplay decide everything.

I don't look for a specific art style. I'll play anything that's highly recommended. But, I find myself losing interest fast if I don't loke the graphics.

Im good with almost anything 2D especially parody art styles (Something unlimited or Rogue-like). Now 3D are very hit or miss with me as the uncanny valley or the size discrepancies some characters have tend to throw me off.

Good art style. Pleasant experience. Likable characters. Heartfelt writing that doesn't try to rope you in and then traumatize you while wrapping itself in pseudo-philosophical bullshit. Emotionally fulfilling experience. Fun. Satisfying conclusion.

You mean besides the gameplay, storyline, and lack of bugs? 😜 Nah, art style's a nice bonus, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm all about that gameplay life. What's your fave art style, tho?

Art style is a massive bonus, but only a bonus. Story and game mechanics are drastically more important. I'll play a text only game for a great story, but I'll pass on a great looking game if its story is incomprehensible or the UI is too frustrating to use.

I avoid most of the VNs featuring green looking aliens and other oddities.

I wouldn't say that a good style is a requirement, but I definitely look through a game's preview images before I decide if I want to play it or not.

Art style's like the icing on the cake – nice to have, but if the cake itself is dry and tasteless (aka bad story/UI), no amount of icing's gonna save it. Priorities, people! 🙌 You're not alone in valuing substance over style.

Hmm, well....yes but no. I need it to be appealing to me, after all it is a h-game if the models all look hideous im not gonna like it, and I have refused to try games just cause they look bad. But I'd say for me the story is just as important. Although I will admit art and tags are what I check first and foremost before even trying a game.

A decent image and render quality is quite important. I'm not willing to play a game that looks like crap.
But "crap" is something different in everyone's eyes.
So different styles exist for a reason and (nearly) every style is valid to exist, whether I loke it or not.
Same is for tags.

I'm a lot more likely to play a unique but good artstyle game than the usual. But I'm skeptical of 2D games in general, they seem to abandon games the most

Is it just me? i believe a good/unique art style is an important requirement when i look for H-games to play, although it is quite subjective what could considered good, i dont find the more simple or "moe" art styles to be appealing. They are understandable, however, given their ease of drawing
Oh it most definitely isn't just you. I can see simple art styles being a distraction but I feel the same is true when high realism is the aim and it goes into that weird uncanny valley look.

I don't disagree with your point but I do think the issue with most games that go for realism over style is poor lighting apposed to the realism itself

I think image quality is more important, but some art styles are pure ass and a big turn-off

Oven time I've always gone for 3D but on rear instances I've gone for some hand drawn games
