It's time for an AMA anything session!

You folks can have a go to question me anything (well, almost anything) and I'll try to answer them.

The most best one will be in my TikTok video (with names redacted)

I have some traits which line up with autism, but probably aren't actually pointing to it. When you were diagnosed, was there a list of alternatives that was run through before coming to autism, or was it something that was considered/decided on rather quickly?

I see myself as a rather normal person, but I do have some quirks (mostly related to socializing) that have never lined up quite right. I can explain most of my behaviors as a series of "I tried, I fucked up (recalling specific memories of that), and I learned so that I don't fuck up again." However those quirks have seemingly just always been there, and I find the lack of a solid explanation for them to be a bit annoying.

I probably am not considered to be on the spectrum. I have friends who are psychologists that have plainly said "no," and while a handful of the traits match, it's far from a sweep. I am interested in what other options there are that happen to be a close match. I don't desire to see a professional over this as this is all little more than a curiosity, but a curiosity nonetheless that would be nice to have some better answers for.

How mild would you rate your Autism? Yogurt mild? ketchup mild? Salsa mild?

Nope, I was diagnosed pretty well. I was talking to my phycologist about my depression and since my sis did her ADHD diagnosis with her, I said why not I try as well, and thus that how I was diagnosed. It tooks months of scheduling to diagnose as an adult.

I would rate mine tomato mild. IDK why but that's the thing came into my mind now.

While this didn't quite fit the first post, I was skimming some of the Wikipedia article on autism as I was writing it to sanity check my information. That ended up leading me toward this article on personality disorders, with its effectively telling me "yeah, probably."

Going through the various PD articles actually gave me a pretty strong sense of déjà vu to the point where I'm pretty sure I've gone through and did this exact research once before, but simply forgot since then lol. Thanks for piquing my interest enough to make me actually look into this (very likely again). :) Maybe this time I'll write it down... Nah.

Any hyperfixations you'd like to talk about?
