If you could create 1 power and gain it, with a few restrictions, what power would you create and than use it for?

maybe the information being locked behind certain actions? like, if you want to know someone's romantic status or feelings, you must kiss them first, or someone strength being found out only after they hit you or finding somoene's skill through a match with them in certain field, kinda like knowing things too late xd still very useful, but would turn you into a social freak, you must be very good at getting second chances with people,
I like that. This is a good one

Two-way telepathy, but only things that aren't secret. Like things that people want to, but can't communicate or don't really understand themselves. Just better communication.
hmmm interesting. How would you have a downside attached to this? I agree this would be handy though

the ability to cause that sinking feeling in your gut, but you cant direct it at a person, it effects everyone in a 10 meter radius including yourself
Youre evil

ability to make a random person in 25m radius to shit themselfes, downside is that it could work on me aswell. embrace the chaos

I respect it.

After dying, you transform into ghost and can continue living by entering another body, but the host instantly ages 50 years.
Thats just rude and evil. I, as thread owner, am stealing this idea and giving you credit if I use it

The power to bring fiction to reality, for Instance if I want the Grilled Cheese Deluxe from regular show I can just make it happen, as for a drawback probably that I need to have finished the show or book that I am bringing to reality from, for example I would have to watch all available episodes of regular show if I wanted the Grilled Cheese Deluxe to reality and in my possession.

for this power we might need a bigger drawback as it could be extremely strong but i do like the idea of it

Have the 'perfect' body. (or rather be the 'perfect' human)

Explanation: Obviously everyone's idea of perfect is different but broadly speaking; just over 6 foot in height, muscular and lean, highly athletic, very strong, very fast, high endurance, retain youthfulness, no physical blemishes, no allergies, etc etc. Perfect body also includes everything inside it including the brain, so this means mental capabilities, so identic memory, genius level intellect, creativity, and adaptability etc etc.

How this could affect your life: You smart enough (smartest person in the planet) and good looking enough to get anything you ever would want, You understand cause and effect within society to manipulate your life in anyway, you could create your own business empire, be a leader of a nation, have your own harem, you can understand any topic with ease, learn anything in a short amount of time, remember everything. etc etc

Cost: you loose everything you currently have. Friends, family, loved ones, your current life, everything except your memory, so you remember everything its cost you.

I guess if you want to call this a super power ...it would be 'genetic lottery winner' . Nothing here is technically a super power, you've just been granted 'human perfection'.

I like the idea of it but what if its kinda like Escanor. You are only perfect at certain times and others you lose the genetic lottery. You go complete opposite for a couple hours, but you dont die. For 16 hours a day you are the absolute peak of humanity but for 8 you are the absolute worst. overweight, terrible memory, and so on.

I mean if those 8 hours were set and/or predictable so you know when its happening.. for example when your asleep :P ..then yea. but unless its unpredictable, or during the middle of the day, it wouldn't be much of a 'cost'
This idea on the surface sounds fine untill you realize its ether going to be a total non issue,, or a total non starter. Its ether not a problem at all due to the time of day it happens, or its going to be such a big cost it wont be worth it.

I think the loss of everything in your life is a good enough one time cost. One that will hopeful get easier to deal with as time goes on, but will be very hard, for most people , at the start.

The thing is a lot of people would absolutely throw their life away for this power. They wouldnt hesitate with a one time cost. Its an upfront cost but not what Id consider a drawback necessarily.

You can have anyone you want. No one can resist you. Since no one can resist you, all the relationships you enter into are considered rape.

Now theres a whole philosophical debate right there.

if a person is extremely beautiful / handsome and irresistible to many, is that then considered rape ?
no ?
Ok so ...why should your example be considered rape ?

the reason for irresistibility is irrelevant , because being irresistible is irrelevant. The person who falls for the other is happy and wants the relationship.. what ever 'type' of relationship that ends up being, so where's the problem ?

To be honest, I hadn’t really thought about it that much. I hadn’t realized it until you mentioned it: Who could possibly accuse this man of rape, and on what grounds? After all, even the people who might try to accuse him are so deeply affected by him—unless they’re emotionless artificial intelligences—that no one will actually accuse him.

power: immortality

cost: you are the only immortal. that means everyone you know eventually dies

You can kill anyone you want instantly. But every time you do, you lose 10 years of your life.

Thats an excessive con imo.

Perhaps; you can kill any1 and any number of people you want instantly, but every single use of the power ( be it one kill or a thousand) removes 10 years.

Alternatively.

For every kill you loose a week of life.

Your concept is similar to the Death Note Shinigami eyes deal, costing half your remaining life. That power on its own is meaningless for the most part, but in combination with the Death Note itself, its very powerful. it is however a 1 time cost allowing you to then kill any1 and any number of people you like so long as you can see their name.
Your example of 1 kill = 10 years, is even more costly, so i dont think it a fair deal imo.

That goes without saying.

I think the worst thing about immortality is that it isnt explicitly implied that your also invulnerable.
Immortality without invulnerability is potentially eternal torture. Imagine being hacked up and still being alive. Thrown into the Mariana Trench, being crushed and still being alive.

Immortality AND invulnerability without the power to turn them off, is also potentially eternal torture.
Without that ability you would experience the heat death of the universe and be an eternal entity. Not something you want.

that was kinda stretch but i can see the idea behind it. Id say it does depend on how it works like if you take away the ability to consent but otherwise it isnt rape id say.

Not a huge cost if I wanna be honest. How would this immortality work? Like you age and then regress or just never age?

The ability to manipulate matter, but you have to use your own matter/cells to do so.
I do like this. Though if its painful to do id say its an equal drawback to an amazing power

To be fair the prompt does say it has an equal or greater drawback than the power give you benefits. I can say that maybe kill a couple people but like 10 to lose a year or so of your life.
You are correct about the immortality. It can be just as much a curse as a gift.
