discussion How often do you guys play as the opposite sex?

When I was younger I only really remember a couple of games where I played as a woman but recently I've stumbled upon a lot more really good ones. I think it's interesting to shake things up now and then since the cutscenes are usually just straight sex anyway. What are some times you guys have tried it and what are some recommendations for anyone unacquainted? Open to ladies who play as guys too of course but I have a feeling that's nearly all of you just due to the amount of games produced with female protagonists at all.

It depends, if you're talking about +18 games, then, I've never played as the opposite sex on those. But if we are talking about all games, I've played quite a few, people miss out on Otomes like Sweet Fuse and Hakuoki, and, they're pretty good imo.

Only in game where I don't have the option. Like e.g. a Lara Croft game.
Never in AVNs. I'm not a woman and can't relate. Also most fem prot games are just slut sims.

I only play guys because lesbian harem games are very rare.
If more devs would tend to my needs, i'd never play male protagonists in adult games.

And obviously i prefer chargens or at least a gender choice in other games. That forced male protagonist bullshit is an outdated concept for atavistic, lazy or misogynic studios and is only acceptable if its a spinoff/addon from books or movies (i dont ask for a female hobbit or a female captain on any enterprise bridge in a canon story game).

Given that there are fewer games with female MCs, the ratio is 1:3. I don't take these games seriously enough to earnestly associate myself with these characters, the main thing for me is the gameplay process. So playing as a man or a woman is indifferent to me. However, I will definitely never play as a futa, trans or gay.

When I was playing WOW and a few other games I'd always have a female AV because their models were generally smaller and I wanted as much screen real estate as possible to see what was going on. It also had the benefit of getting more of the loot because I was really good with da heals and groups wanted to keep me equipped with the best gear.

In games in general, it depends:
- If I have a choice: male
- If I don't: i'm okay with it as long as the character is well written

Also most armor sets just scale / look better, and the attack / run / jump animations are most of the times way smoother - Plate wearin' Tauren females are top shelf - decent size on shoulders, weapons still huge + you can hide their entire face with most plate helms (I don't, bangs are OP).

pretty often, sometimes female models are nicer to look at, sometimes it leads to sexier scenes. I am not the character in the videogame, even if I get to influence their decisions and the story that happens around them

Not very often. It depends on the game. There are some RPGMs that I like with a female protagonist but they are usually not games that appeal to me.

Narratively if the character is Male or Female, I don't mind. If you can pick between multiple characters, I usually pick a guy first. If the gender is tied to a Class or Job, I pick whichever Role seems the most appealing regardless of whichever Gender it is. If it's Create-A-Character type game, I just self insert, so male unless you can create an optional alternate side character like Fallout 4, Rise of the Ronin, or the Pawns in Dragon's Dogma, in those cases I create my main, and a Female Sidekick or whatever. Exceptions are Achievement based or something tied to Romance Options or Gear, I'll make a female character to do clean up for completionist sake, if it's a requirement.

Adult games, I tend to avoid Female Protagonists.

If I can choose, always the same as my sex.
